Antisemitism can't be ignored

Court martial that punk.

When it crosses to violent threats, I see it as purely antisemitism (and maybe also white supremicism) and not as a reaction to a war.

What if he states that it was a reaction to the war? Intent is the only thing that matters here.
His quotes in the article sure sound like he’s triggered over Israel’s influence over the United States.

Well, his intention was to walk into a synagogue with his AK and kill every single Jew. That is the intent that makes it anti-semetic. Non-Israeli citizen Jews in the diaspora aren’t responsible and have no vote in what Israel does.

He may not know that, reading his quotes in the article, he doesn’t

Doesn’t really matter. I was just more interested in the "why now aspect " of the violent threat. Case could be argued we are seeing a lot of people being triggered these days

Agree, and it is being addressed by the authorities.

Bigger view
we may all carry around some hate or racism, that we keep suppressed, thru either self preservation fears or learnings. But these things can pop up under stressful scenarios.

It’s like the jump in mass shootings during
the covid years, and now those events are in decline.

Sounds like, from the article, that he’s got an issue with the Israelism that some people see as a reason for the war.

Yes it matters, specifically in the reply to the response to Dustin who said he didn’t see it as a reaction to the war. It matters to the prosecutor.

He is choosing people based on their religion. It would still be a hate crime. That would matter to the prosecutor.

He’s not choosing them because they are “Israelists” as he has no idea if they are. I have no idea why you’re seemingly defending him or his behavior.

Israelism (as I learned recently) is a critical label applied to define a specific set of behaviors. It is not something Jews identify as or necessarily fit. There is no Israelism movement in Judaism.

No, Sorry for not
being able to explain it better to you.

Yes it’s antisemitism threat. That’s the point
of thread.

I’m interested in examining “why now” aspect of it, if it exists.

So it doesn’t matter, on one level, what caused the threat. It is hate and is being appropriately handled by authorities. Cause
or triggering event doesn’t matter in that sense.

I was interested in examining the question of
does low level suppressed hatred ( that we may all possess ?) possible be triggered by events that are stressful to the individual ?

So itchy. And you’re a moderator? Show me where I defended him. He needs his balls cut off like the recent would be assassin’s

If we weren’t in this war, he may or may not have threatened to target American Jews. I bet he wouldn’t have, your bet is he would have. It’s a coin flip until they question him.

You are clearly trying to find an excuse for his behavior. Your introduction of Israelism, which auto-correct doesn’t even recognize, puts this is Tucker territory.

“I’m just asking questions”

Actually, the term “Israelism” IS indeed a real term, but as I posted elsewhere, it means something very, VERY strange.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/4mq27d/what_can_askhistorians_tell_me_about_british/

It’s a pseudo-historical theory, popularized mostly by Herbert W Armstrong’s Worldwide Church of God and its successor spinoffs like the Living Church of God and Philadelphia Church of God.

Itchy, itchy. There are no excuses for his behavior; there are reasons for his behavior. You’re the ones so itchy to label everything in the eyes of racism or anti-semitism. It’s all in the article; read it. He has an admitted problem with the war. If Mexico had pulled us into an unpopular war, he would have wanted to shoot up a congregation at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, then the dumbass soldier wouldn’t have fit the narrative and would have had to been posted in the Iran War thread, as it should be.

I would highly recommend this 2023 film introducing the concept of Israelism (not Tucker), but I know you’re all too itchy to watch it. The wife and I watched it recently. Very well documented by two American Jews. Glad to teach the forum a new concept.

That’s part of your problem, you use auto-correct as a news source. I bet you’re still using Google as a search engine too.

What should they be using

Please don’t derail this any further.

Opposing viewpoints are not always a means to “derail” a thread; they’re opposing viewpoints. Judging from the subsequent replies and personal barbs, opposing viewpoints make many of you uncomfortable.

You made the point for me, I know the point of thread, that soldier doesn’t meet the point. He’s mad about the war, that’s the point. There are probably more soldiers, and soldiers’ parents, and spouses who have the same point about the war.

Correct, but the war is not the focus of the thread. And I haven’t heard a lot of others wanting to kill Jews in this country over the war.

Antisemitism threats seem to be at high right
now and that’s probably due in part to ME wars.

But antisemitism predates the war, the founding of modern day Israel, and even the Holocaust.

So rethinking this a bit, I probably should not
have introduced “the trigger search” aspect here. And the guy is probably most likely a white supremist based upon his wording.
