Indeed, on Monday, Applewhite won that press conference. However, five days later, in his first game as the school’s head coach, Applewhite lost the Las Vegas Bowl, 34-10, to San Diego State. Quietly, Houston fans had to be thinking that it took Herman ten games before losing his first, 19 before losing his second. Tom Herman may be in Austin, but his shadow is still cast over Houston, at least until Major Applewhite shows Cougar fans he can take over the #HTownTakeover as his own.
Yes Herman won his first ten, but Applewhite had a bs game for his first one. To count that bowl game, under those circumstances, against Applewhite is stupid. The Major will do well.
Herman had a full staff, 9 months of prep time and a super senior class as a core base. Not much of a comparison in my view. Lets wait to judge at this point next year.
Anybody else here a rumor that Ward was out with Allen in Las Vegas, but not suspended since we had no QB available? If true might explain a lot of issues.
A friend’s son in a fraternity at U of H heard a Frontiersman saw Ward and Allen being confronted by a coach trying to get to their rooms between 4:00 and 5:00 AM.
Guys, people start rumors typically to boost their own egos. It makes them feel important. Some have a kernel of truth. Most are pure BS. Only a very few are true. Beware.
Don’t forget Applewhite wasn’t exactly in the locker room folding towels while Hermtool was running the show. He’s as much a part of our success the past 2 years as Hermtool. Or a big part of it anyway.
