Seems like that was huge for the team’s development this year. I think it would be great for our freshmen and Milos. Not sure if it was a one time deal, no doubt it’s expensive.

I think you only get to go abroad every 2 or 3 years.

Is that a NCAA rule? I wasn’t aware.

Its a foreign trip once every 4 years.

We took one to Italy 2019-2020 season

Australia 2023-24 season

I’m looking at some of the places other teams went, where I would love to see UH play:

Italy
France
Spain
Germany
Australia
New Zealand
Canada
Bahamas
Taipei
Virgin Islands
Ireland
Costa Rica
Panama

Love spreading the UH brand internationally, the team has a once in a lifetime experience, plus 5 games and 10 practices to get a head start on the season. I hope Kelvin has one more international trip in him.

At this point with the current rules (always subject to change), that would be during the 2027-28 season.

If we play at Taipei next maybe I can get a work trip there at the same time… :thinking: :grin:

Like most NCAA rules, this seems incredibly stupid. Of course it might one of the 2 rules they still get to enforce so they probably keep a hard line on it

I believe one of the reasons the rule is 4 years is to prevent players from going on more than one trip. This was made before COVID. I think J’Wan has gone on two trips.

I saw an article, maybe on this site somewhere, where teams will most likely stop doing these foreign trips to save money and invest it in NIL instead…

Back when the rule was implemented, one trip every 4 years pretty much guaranteed a 4 year (maybe 5) student/athlete would get to leave the country once. Back then, many student/athletes stayed with one school for 4 or 5 years . . . . . not so much jumping around . . . . . JMO

Michigan football went to Italy in 2017 and won the national championship 6 years later in 2023.

UH went to Italy in 2019 and 6 years later is 2025……….

It’s gotta be somewhere there are teams to play as well….who are they playing in Ireland, Virgin Islands,Costa Rica, etc.? There might be one worthy team in each country.

I’d like to see a Scandinavian trip.
