I would rather watch a competitive game, not fine tuning.
I typically don’t tune in to the 16 v 1 games in the NCAA tournament for the same reason…unless it’s UH…or Purdue lol.

You need to follow d3 then.
At that level, every champion of every conference with six or more teams gets an auto bid to their VERY large playoffs.
Of course they only have a 10 game regular season.
That’s fine and this is your preference. From a regional standpoint it gets the entire country involved.
Arizona State was picked last or next to last in the Big 12 going into the season. What they did was amazing and they absolutely deserve a spot. Some people have a hard time with the notion that the twelve teams most deserving of a playoff spot are not necessarily the twelve best teams in the country.
You are so correct. All of this non sense about not deserving a spot has been created by the media. The field is always the answer no matter what excuses or perception(s) someone might have.
The only way to solve this is to have…and I am mentioning it again:
10 conferences champions
Six at large including the best independent.
The best eight conference champions host the other eight.
No more conference championships game.
Big Sky champ already gets an autobid…into the FCS playoff
The auto bids are made by rule. I don’t know why so many of you feel the need to post such idiotic drivel about who you think “deserves” an auto -bid.
And for any so called Coogfans to pimp SEC and Big10 propaganda is beyond pathetic. So many of you are just plain dumb.
I should start a new thread “Coogfans don’t deserve to post stupid crap.”
When I was growing up in the catamount infested backwoods of Arkansas one of our rivals were the Gurdon “Go-Devils.”
I am not lying. Those purple bas#% were a real headache.
I love how every year in the ncaa mbb there are a couple 12 seeds that take down the 5 seed. Nobody wants to be a 5 seed.
There was a time when Wyoming was a Top 19 school and BYU won a Natty.
But that all went away with ESPN raiding conferences and funding schools. Then they gave them big bucks for their bowl games and excluded over half the teams from a MNC before the first kickoff of the season.
NIL and the transfer portal + and a playoff where all conference champs are in (all10j WILL, over the next 10 years level the playing field.
All it takes is one big donor (look at Oregon before the Nike dude). You could have an Ohio, or GA Southern alum build a monster program. But why would he do that if before the first kick he has no chance at national recognition. Dang, look what SMU did in ONE year.
Exactly. That is one of the reasons I posted that format. But go figure some posters that were adamant about g5’s schools getting a chance at the cfp have now made a 180.
I like this idea but you still have the human element and teams getting picked. What would be ideal is something like the NFL where you win enough games relative to your peers and you get the playoff spot. No picking required. The best way I can think of to do this would be to tier the conferences with the number of available conference slots varying according to tier. Sort of like the UEFA Champions League. There could also be some kind of mechanism for conferences adding or losing slots (changing tiers) every so often.
I think the top 4 highest ranked qualifiers should get the byes.
Boise state getting a bye is ridiculous. I also think that a case could be made that ASU didn’t deserve a bye ahead of Texas.
I think the rules will be different from next year.
After decades of a select few screwing over everyone and cheating their brains out we’re suddenly concerned that Boise and ASU getting byes?
Ding ding ding ding POST OF THE DAY.
It seems like some on Coogfans either suffer from early memory loss or they are lying to themselves. I can go back just a couple of years ago and read the same posters wanting the p5 on a pitch fork.
Poster’s opinion reflect not only their school, but their conference. As a member of P4 Big 12, our opinions are going to completely reflect that fact. WHO CARES what some poster said when we were in CUSA? We are not in that league or the American anymore, thank GOD…Defend your school, defend your league…Thats what most of us do. Us and the ACC work to improve our own situation and fight the SEC and BIG every second for our piece of the playoff pie. I dont CARE about the G5…let them have their own playoff…
“Some poster” that was you and I and 99% of Coogfans. Anyways we don’t see eye to eye on this. No worries Monte. Merry Christmas.
A G5 team should absolutely not get a bye over any P4 qualifier! The schedules that G5 teams play is a stroll in the park compared to much tougher schedules that P4 teams play.
You can’t have it both ways. Boise State in the past tried to schedule the bama’s of the world…they refused. What you and others really want is for every g5 to be kicked out to the curb. And to think we were a g5 just a couple of years ago.
That’s an absolute that has no merit. You can have a g5 that wins games by 40 and hammers p4 in OoC.
By your logic you really shouldn’t have g5’s in the playoffs.
