Last I remember, I think he was at USF.
Yes, he’s at USF, and they finished #119 in total defense this year. He was a good coordinator here, but it helps to have eight or nine NFL players on your defense.

Fritz was an FCS HC for quite a while. Georgia Southern hired him and then Tulane.
Hampton is friends with CWF…He coached at Tulane with him for several years. If he’ll come, we will find the money, dont worry. The school was made to look bad when Shiel bailed for more cash, but that guy bails on everybody for last 8 years. I think we can get Hampton, we’ll see.

ALL of those guys except MAYBE Morrison outperformed Shiel Wood. Looks like Texas Tech was shopping in the wrong place

Ehh…. I get the feeling that CWF knew Shiel was going to leave, and so they probably informally agreed for Shiel to wait until after they fire Barbary, in order to offset the costs.
I think Shiel left in good terms, but UH just couldn’t cough up the money. Can’t blame Shiel

Well, nothing is certain, but that MIGHT suggest that the guy we’re after is in the CFP. Could potentially be a bowl game, but I’m not sure that a DC would necessarily stick around for the Meinike Car Care Bowl. Of course the DC everyone would be thrilled with is Chris Hampton, co-DC at Oregon at DC at Tulane under Fritz in 21 and 22. But he makes a million bucks, so he’d have to really want to drop the co- title.

Idk who Fritz is targeting but doesn’t seem like we’d pay more than the $750k range. Hopefully a guy like Hampton does want to run his own defense. Maybe we’ll see some names leaked this week.
