Fulshear reminds me of the good Navy teams.
21-20 at half. Both these teams have talent.
Our two recruits for Fulshear, Bryant and Rice really look.
I love Bryant in the OL. He is a head hunter and has a great motor. Both UH recruits have room to fill out but both are really good prospects.
Carlisle is simply a jet in the open.

As I posted on Recruiting, Carlisle definitely looks like a college QB prospect.

And Fulshear’s two tight end straight-T formation looks right out of the 1950s!

TOTAL retro throwback!

Fulshear’s rushing attack is relentless.

Like Butch said earlier, reminiscent of Navy.

Fulshear is really good. A running machine few will stop this year.

The announcers didn’t provide Carlisle’s final stats, but I believe he finished with at least 300 total yards, 200 rushing.

He looked darn good yesterday both running and throwing the ball.

I’m a little concerned about his height at the next level, but he definitely has the “it” factor!

That wasn’t one of Carlisle’s better throwing days. He was late on some passes. I think he had better talent at WR last season.

Flushear also did a good job of setting the edge on defense later in the game to limit him from getting outside and busting out another 50 yard run.

Carlisle is the same size as Greg Ward, Jr. and we all know how he fared as QB.

His HS stats are comparable to GWJ and he can execute the RPO with the extra element of speed, just like GWJ.

His 300 total yards against Fulshear, a state championship caliber team, was impressive.

Except that Fulshear’s O is not really a spread triple option attack like Navy, nor even a wishbone option attack.

It’s an old fashioned 1950s “Straight T formation” (full house backfield with two tight ends) straight ahead run game with a lot of counters, misdirections, and some straight dives and leads.

Truly a throwback to the “three yards and a cloud of dust” era. It works simply because coaches never see it these days and have only a few days of full contact practice during game week to get ready for it.

They had that one power back that looked like “Cousin It” from the Addam’s family!

They were a load. They totally wore down the RP defense. It really was impressive.

I understand they run this offense from junior high to high school. Ironically the quarterback did not run last night and I only remember a couple of passes, one for a touchdown.
They win because other teams don’t face this kind of offense and it is very hard to practice for.
Of course without a really good offensive line this offense wouldn’t be so good.
I am not worried about Carlisle’s height at all. He is the same size as Ward and Moon Mullins, and they were both pretty successful here at UH.
Austin is thicker than Ward and a better passer. He is going to be exciting to watch in a Coog uniform.
