Got these text messages. Put the URL into Whois and got a lot of info on a screen.
Don’t want to get spoofed but also don’t want to leave money on the table. Would it be wiser to open the link on public browser to avoid files, passwords and history?
Anybody here a SME on URL parsing and/or spam avoiding in general? Thank you in advance.
Also, in that URL is there a funny character after the “http://“ I can’t tell if that’s
a “.” or a “_” or just an artifact of cutting and pasting that URL that got introduced.
Delete and report as spam. Don’t engage with it, as even if you reply with STOP or something like that it flags their system and they can sell the information that’s it’s been verified as a valid phone number.
This works, but I also favor using a few well placed cruise missiles, and hacker support to delete their database backups. Also penalizing the phone companies for allowing it.
