This work has me manic.
This is a direct reflection on Dana Portalsen.
Not surprised, this is all on Dana.
Really awful teams play badly. This game was boring and just terrible any way you look at it. That rating is spectacularly bad especially given the network and time of day the game was played. I guess thatâs life in the Big 12.
Air raid the heck out of our offenseâŠthe eyeballs will come back. So many national viewers tune in just to see the gaudiness of our stats being piled up. Plus, itâs a way more fun way of football.
This city is a pro sports team. And even then there are a ton of A&M, UT, LSU, Baylor alums living here. Itâs hard to compete with the pro teams.
Hyperbole or delusion ? ? ? ? ?
When we suck no one cares and when we are good not enough people care.
The only alumni base that has more living alumni in Houston MSA is Tamu.
Followed closely by UT but UH still has more folks residing in Houston MSA.
LSU has quite a bit- around 60-75k of its living alum are within an hour of downtown Houston.
Baylor is very small as private Christian school. TCU has a much larger alumni base since it stopped being a really Christian school.
The fact of the matter is UH still admits student that just donât care as students. When you donât care as students then you certainly donât care as alum- or at least thatâs the fact pattern.
Itâs not that UH is massively outnumbered by any 1 school- itâs that UH for a million reasons canât generate a lasting connection with the majority of its students!! Itâs Bizzare!
Why come to a university if youâre not going to have any pride in jt!?!? Youâre just hurting yourselves!?
When one takes into consideration that almost 2/3s of the student population is either Hispanic or Asian, it is easy to understand the lack of involvement/interest in a game that neither culture has been exposed to over the long haul. 44 percent are low income, so 20 to 40 $ for parking and high concessions most likely keep most of them away from both TDECU and Fertitta Center. I know, this only explains the student population, but not affordable and lack of interest while a student makes it difficult to convert them once they get real lives . . . . .
Even the pro sports in Houston has their share of attendance issues.
I went to Astrosâ games before they were good in 2015 and you saw physical attendance under 20,000 people.
I went to some Rockets games the past few years and they look like a library.
Even the Texans before this year would be outnumbered by the visiting fans on some games.
Well maybe the university should somehow try to alter or change the student population to more of a traditional one, but I know that is difficult as the population of Houston is very diverse and dr Khator prides herself with our diverse student body, im not sure what the answer is to help with students and athletics?
Racial diversity works out well at UT.
Hispanics like football a lot.
Why should we be surprised by these numbers?
The thing that jumped at me were the Nationwide numbers. I am 100% sure people on Wall Street are not taking these numbers lightly.
This constant realignment and destruction of college football as we know it will take hold on the college football fans. At some point people will have enough and finally tune off.
Wake up man! This is old news. SMU bought their way into the ACC.
We have attendance problems just like other city schools. Miami & UCLA arenât exactly doing well in that department either
Texans really upset the fanbase the past few years it will get better soon for them as for UH its pretty much the same as always.
Bill oâ Brien and Jack Easterby (sp) really jacked up the Texans. Iâm glad they are gone. Great quick turn around. Iâm
Happy for Ryans.
There were questions if Demeco would take the job because he sued the Texans because of his injury on the turf at the stadium. I am really glad he did that was the best pr move they have made in a long time.
