Aziz Olajuwon Edit- We offered

Good Lord, just let the kid enjoy playing high school ball! And let Dream enjoy watching!
The kid is competitive and I am sure he is good enough to go somewhere he can play regularly.

Yeah if it’s a choice between D1 scholarship playing or PWO. I would assume you take the scholly 98% of the time. It’s not just about the money/paying for school it’s a playing time and respect thing. No different than out in the world where money isn’t just about the paycheck but is the representation of how you are valued.

But if he has minimal interest all the way around ,and wants to continue his bball journey I would think we’d definitely extend a PWO to a legacy.

Drexler’s kid was a walk on

Sure. The point wasn’t his scholarship status. Just the fact that he was Drexler’s kid. A Legacy. A PSJ Legacy, even.

He’s made a career for himself overseas apparently

How old is Aziz? He has pretty good handles. Curious if he grows a bit more. If he gets to 6’8” and maintains the dribbling and shooting skills, he could turn into a quality SF/PF recruit

Man, i wish UH BB would court the Marine Corp for some NIL. That analogy is spot on! :sunglasses:

Was not a Sampson team.

So?

2014-2015 team.

And he quit I think - but he wasn’t a d-1 athlete -

Prefered Walk On.

There are no more walk ons. Everyone is on scholarship. Same for football. NCAA.

I don’t remember him quiting. At any rate, he’s listed on the 2014-2015 team roster on UHCougars.com.

Now a 3 star recruit and has gotten P4 offers from Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt with others on notice.

Apparently is on watch to potentially rise to a 4 star pending how the camps go.

The only UH basketball legacy that exceeded the success of their father is Galen Robinson. Dwight Jones, Jr. never did. Joseph Young never did. Adam Drexler never did. Moses Malone Jr., Gee Gervin, and Calvin Murphy, Jr. do not count as legacies

Looks like he is in John Lucas’s camp which means we won’t get him even if we wanted to

His first name reminds me of Iowa State’s Don Smith who played for the Rockets and converted to Islam and became Zaid Abdul-Aziz.

Mercy Miller.
