Season is officially over. A few bright spots in the 2025 campaign led by Antoine Jean the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. A few others were fun to watch this year X Perez, Broussard, Lugo, McGinnis and on the mound Schmitz, A Perez, Fuller and Hoffman all had fine seasons. Big things were expected of Climie. Not sure I saw him play in the conference tournament but ended hitting .264 with 9 homers.
A couple things to watch:
Coaching, Will there be a change? And if so, who will get the nod
Transfer Portal. Coaching change could lead to a mass exit.
Incoming freshman. Udland could be a weekend arm type of guy
The #1 issue is we need a coaching change, yes there was a little improvement but that doesn’t cover up the fact of a poor product for the last multiple years
UH Baseball came to life under Rayner Noble. Then he left/released and we hired Todd Whitting (from TCU) and think we hit a grand slam. However, the truth is exposed when pitching coach Frank Anderson leaves for an SEC job. Since then, baseball has gone back to a sport nobody cares about.

I got the apathy, didn’t like it but also realist, toward the Baseball Program in past as FB and MBB, the real revenue producers, took all the $$ that was available. We’re no longer the Red Headed Step-Child…with Big12 $ it’s time to move on. IYKYN…Baseball is the one major that UH should be well above average in…it’s by FAR the easiest to do a 180°…Let’s get this baby back on track and make Coog Baseball FUN again and get the park rockin’ like it was before…those were great times
Perez and Fuller had decent years they can build on but I would not say Schmitz had a good year at all. He was a third year player who struggled to get out of the fourth inning every start. If there is a coaching change, I am sure the new staff will want most of the players to enter the portal. Most of them are not Big 12 players.
If they don’t make a move, Houston Baseball will be dead to me! I am sure a ton of people feel the same way.
