Oliver is coming to Houston next year our of Northwest Florida State College. She was a McDonald’s All American Nominee out of high school and originally signed with Georgia before transferring to Georgia State after suffering a fracture in her foot which she received a medical redshirt for. She sat out the 2015-2016 season and then transferred to Northwest Florida State College. Last year she started 20 games, averaged 16 minutes a game and averaged 9.5 PPG 4.8 RPG 1.0 BPG. She will be a redshirt sophomore when she comes to Houston with 3 years remaining
Out of high school, she was rated as the nation’s No. 18 overall prospect by Blue Star, as well as No. 37 by Prospect Nation, No. 58 by ESPN Hoopgurlz and No. 59 by the Girls Basketball Report.
Oliver joins the Cougars from Northwest Florida State where she averaged 9.5 points per game on 55.6 percent shooting from the field, and pulled down 4.8 rebounds per game while paying 16.3 minutes per night. Oliver made her way to Northwest Florida State after an injury derailed her freshman season at Georgia. She will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Cougars.
”Nasheema is going to give us a much needed presence in the paint.” Hughey said. “She was a top-50 player coming out of high school, and last season she showed glimpses of being that player. She can stretch the floor, is athletic and can hang with the best of them down low.”
Oliver is at UA-Fort-Smith…The head coach Elena Lovato was on the Lady Cougars staff in 2008-2009.
