I would say Arkansas, if it hadn’t been so long since we were playing them. Only all of the old timers could possibly know how intense that rivalry was.
I believe it will become Texas Tech.
I think it’s Memphis and I’m both happy and sad that it’s run its course. We’ll have to go through a period of losing again to find out who really hates us the most now.
Kansas and Tech fans are plenty disrespectful, we just happen so good that they have no choice but to keep quiet atm. The minute we slip some their real colors will come out.
No F-that. If they wanna play us it’s at our place or they can take a hike. Home and home is for people you respect. F-those mofos.
Hate to admit it but those humps were our rivals in the AAC. Dirty ass players and worse fans. Don’t even wanna mention their name. Phuc 'em.
As far as Big 12… i dislike Arizona for some reason. Probably has to do with the mess they talked after we bounced them from the tourney a few years ago and their annoying “U of A” chant. They’ve already taken out our unofficial bro in Iowa St so for the honor of the Big 12 they MUST be defeated.
I respect the hate but at the same time the closest thing we had to a notable non-conference home game this year was Butler. Scheduling Memphis would at least give our fans an interesting match up.
To me, a rivalry is with an opponent you either can’t stand to lose to or one that will consistently stand in your way of achieving what you want to achieve and then achieving it themselves. The only 3 teams that qualify for this are Memphis (hate to lose to them), Kansas (historical basketball overlords of the conference, we want that distinction) and Iowa St (the only real challenger we’re competing with for Big12 Basketball Overlord). No one else is a real threat to us.
Every team wants to beat the other team. Nothing new there. That does not make a rivalry. Rivalries go deeper than that. A stolen victory in a key game, a fight and bad blood between the squads or coaches, a series of competitive games won in the last seconds. Rivalries build up over time. UH has been playing basketball in the B12 1.5 yrs. Give it time.
