T6…No Score

Sure would be nice to get a run today

Top 6th
Coogs finally get another hit as Hollis doubles with 2 outs, but that’s it.

M6…No score

We can’t hit worth didley. Maybe we need to start recruiting hitters. If we are then clearly our system ain’t working Todd.

Bottom 6th
An E6 puts a runner on, but King picks him off. Another ball hit to short is ruled a hit, but King gets the next hitter. He’s faced one over the minimum.

T7…No score

Top 7th
Nothing doing

M7…No score

Bottom 7th
King runs into a bit of trouble after a leadoff single, a bunt, an intentional walk and a groundout, by getting a flyout to right.

1 run…all we’re asking for at this point

Top 8th
Julks gets on via error, moves to 2nd on a Triolo bunt and that’s it

Bottom 8th

T9…No score

Top 9th
Hollis walks
Wong fails to get a bunt down and flies out to center
Champion pinch hitting for Padgett, balk, and then a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd
Baylor relieves Bradford
Davis walks to load the bases
Scheiner singles to center, 2 runs score…Coogs lead 2-0
Julks flies out to right, Davis out for leaving early (of course)

M9…UH leads 2-0

Bottom 9th
King on to try to finish it
King gets the first out himself on a groundout up the 1st base line
Groundout to short for the second out
Flyout to left at the wall ends it

COOGS WIN!!! 2-0

1st career shutout for King as he gives up 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5.

At least we got out of there with a win, but really need to look at the offense. Pitching is its normal championship level self.

We really need to work on hitting.

I do not know if we could have kept him but we miss Mike Taylor.

He was a good hitting coach for Rice until he got cross wise with Graham.

He did a good job here coaching us when we lost to ULa La in the Regional.

If you look at our recruits, all good hitters coming out of high school. Julks really has not hit since Taylor left. By the way, Taylor is in his 2nd year at Baylor.

Great pitching this weekend that should have posted two wins but only got three runs in support over the weekend. And we made three pitchers for Baylor look All American this weekend and their best probably would not make a weekend start on our staff.
