It’s that simple. Also helps if they win out until then.
#1 Big 12 QB vs #2 Big 12 QB
Young hotshot Coach Morris vs Old veteran Coach Fritz
T. Boone Pickens legacy vs Flashy Fertitta Money

Flashy Fertitta money?
Ever been to Golden Nugget?
Yes, I have.
Extremely doubtful. In fact, I’m pretty confident that the 7PM window on FOX/ABC/ESPN is going to be some permutation of Notre Dame @ BYU, Tennessee @ Alabama, and either Utah @ Colorado, Arizona State @ Texas Tech, or Florida State @ Miami (FL).
We’ll be at 2:30 PM, probably on ESPN, largely due to the fact that the SEC has Florida @ Texas and Mississippi State @ LSU in the noon window.
It’s a pretty safe bet that we’re not getting a Saturday night slot against a team East of Boulder until further notice.
I actually believe that our best way to get a nighttime spot would be to lose a game or two, which I am not in favor of. That way we would be demoted to ESPNU or TNT or FS1, who also have night slots to fill.
Hopefully, because my plane lands in Houston at 2.
Well thats nice. I think we can beat UCF tomorrow, and then see what we can do against K State, who are always very tough at home.
It will probably end up being a top 15 match up. (Assuming both teams keep winning.)
If we win this weekend and they don’t penalize the Cowboys for not playing, it should be a top 20 match up on paper before next weeks games, I doubt they use a 6 day hold on it, they only have 4 all season, so we should find out Monday, especially with the excitement around both programs, but KU/KSU and Notre Dame/BYU on that weekend as well.
That week’s games are a crazy good slate. There are 7 ranked matchups that week, including three top 10 matchups, plus Miami v Florida state, Michigan v Penn state.
Would Houston fans be okay with a 9:15 local time kickoff if it meant being the sole big matchup and it being a night game?
Easily
Our admin has to advertise the hell outta the Okie Lite game.
Gotta take out K-State and pray for 7 pm
Matt Sarzniak is projecting 2:30 on FOX, which assumes ESPN uses a priority choice to grab the Notre Dame / BYU game, but he thinks there might be some 6 day holds, there are some great games that week. One thing to note he projected 6pm on ESPN2 for the KSU game and missed on week 4, but he did get week 5 right.
2:30 is better than 11
High is predicted to be 79 so it would be gorgeous, my plane lands in Houston at 2:00 so I am not sure I can make it work personally. LOL
I only speak for myself, but personally, hell yeah. After-dark Football rules.
Full disclaimer I have no idea which media company will broadcast our next games…and this is IMO a huge point.
What makes you think espn will do that?
To this I pointed out earlier that espn had a golden opportunity to have a night time space city broadcast. espn clearly did not give a hoot. If they did again the possibilities were endless. NASA in Texas and Florida, Johnson Space Center, Space X in Texas…and Florida.
Here is the bottom line:
espn was basically “filling” a time slot on espn2. That was it. If espn cared about showcasing a “story” they would have done it.
I expect garbage from espn when it comes to U of H. Glad to see Andre, apart from that terrible production…again. You watch an espn game for the sec, big10 or even acc these productions are on a different planet than what they give us in the BIG12.
ESPN cares about the SEC because that is the property that they own control of. Everything else is filler in their eyes - the cheaper the better. So they are actually incentivized to devalue every other conference.
