Best Hotel in Houston

Downtown to me is awesome now. Not so much when I was in school. Stayed downtown when we played Colorado and it was amazing. Stayed at the Embassy Suites. Great restaurants.

I personally think staying in the Galleria Area is the best and there are LOTS of options. I primarily want to stay near the Westheimer area. So many restaurants high end as well as inexpensive. Great Mexican food, Mediterranean, Cajun, Food trucks galore (best tacos I’ve had). steak, indian chinese, vietnamese, american, Italian etc. For hotels, the issue I don’t like isnthe upscale charge of $30-$35 for parking. So, Sonesta on Richmond doesn’t charge and is inexpensive. The hilton farther down near Sam Houston Toll Way has been inexpensive and priced right. The Marriot as well. The Post Oak Hilton has been a value except for the fact they charge you $40.00 a night for parking but if you are Hilton Gold, you have free breakfast and dinner appetizers. I’ve stayed at the Derek on Westheimer and it was decent and again on Westheimer there are all kinds of bars and restaurants to visit. JMHO

Bar also has complimentary drinks at 5 pm. That’s why it’s my favorite downtown hotel. Everybody sleeps on it

Do they still do afternoon cocktails or did they turn that into a cash bar?

Marriott Marquis Houston plus you can hang out around the cool places like the bars and Discovery Green.

Hotel Derek closed. The hotel is being renovated and will reopen as The Greenleigh, later this year.

Hotel granduca galleria

St regis next year.

Downtown idk marriot marquis or Hilton americas

I’ve never stayed at either. But love xochi and go to the park often

Post Oak’s cheapest room for tomorrow is over $900 before all the crazy taxes. Almost double the budget the original poster requested for two nights.

Plus, the Galleria area sucks especially if you’re coming for a game. You either need a rental car or $500 for all the Uber trips.

Galleria is too far even though it has some great spots, especially if you have to Uber.
Downtown is near the campus is a more logical choice. There are great places to eat as well like Hull and Oak and Post Houston.

I second the Marriott Marquis downtown. Our go to for staycations during the summer. The pool may be heated so you may be able to enjoy it. Great bar/restaurant (Biggios) plus they have Xochi as well. Right across from Discovery Green and plenty of restaurant options as well. Zaranda Restaurant just recently opened about 3 months ago. Highly recommend it for dinner and drinks. Close distance to El Tiempo and Ninfas as well on Navigation.
