I used to laugh at the Aggies until I actually met with, and worked with a few. I got to know them. To me, they are like like giant extended family and tight like a family. To me, the cows are like a big family of ego driven AHs. Thereās a big difference.
Cotton Bowl v Nebraska is the easy choice, but I wasnāt alive then, so my vote is Peach Bowl against FSU.
Last night was pretty sweet too
Honorable mention is Armed Forces Bowl against Pitt
Our first Cotton Bowl against Maryland will always be my favorite. It was our first ever New Yearās day bowl game and Maryland was highly regarded back then. They had shut out Florida in the Gator bowl the year before and were undefeated and ranked #4 when we played them. Their fans and our fans went back and forth at the hotel before the gameā¦Lots of fun! A good win over a great Maryland teamā¦
While a member of the Houston Golf Association, I interacted with both Aggs and Horns, I when it came to golf, I had no problems. Otherwise, Horns s*ck and Aggs know a lot about grass. I have a couple of Agg relatives and living in a farming, ranching community, they are pretty much fine people.
In the Cotton Bowl 1977 vs Maryland, Coach Yeoman had decided he wanted to play defense to start the game. There was a very strong wind coming from the north endzone. Maryland won the toss and with their choice, elected to take the wind. So we elected to kickoff into a 30 mph breeze. It all worked out, as the Cougars took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter anyway.
The nostalgia for me is whenever you guys mention the Cotton Bowl opponents and years I see a row of VHSs with each label written by my dad.
Mom motherās side were all farmers. I get it.
