Where does Batemon fall…?

Batemon turned it on a lot later than Toure. Last 10 games or so. Before that, he wasn’t playing much often times.
Fwiw, they did both make a similar impression on TJ tho in terms of practice habits, character, IQ etc. from day 1. I think being a foreign pro and prepping a year at Brewster sped up Toure’s development a little bit, understandably so. Batemon was ranked A LOT higher than Toure (about 70 ish spots off the top of my head)
Batemon was a public HS and AAU star in Milwaukee. He’s also a quieter kid than Toure and he was valedictorian at his HS, btw.
I think we’re probably past that learning curve tho and Batemon is definitely now viewed as another leader on this team.

At this point, Kyle, Jamarion Batemon’s game is really similar to Crash, offensively. Not a PG. Really a shoot-1st wing with range that is kind of so-so taking it to the cup and making plays for others. Not bad, but not great either.
So his ultimate status as a star or not is really gonna be determined by how well he shoots the ball. All signs point to him being permanently 40%+ at volume going forward…because he really has a natural stroke and can get it off at will. He really hunts the trey so well.
But in terms of getting downhill and making plays at the rim or for others, not sure that’s ever gonna be his game so much. He’s a 3 and D wing for sure. Mercy and him are kinda similar too, other than Mercy dunked it on our f***** head top last year

Tech was 13th in Bart Torvik before the addition of Atwell
Arizona, Houston, Tech battling for a Big12 title this yr.
They’ve gone from bottom 1/3 to top 3-4 in the last few weeks.

Yep I was - was supposed to be a done deal - and then we heard BYU was out of money.
And now the football coach is mad about where money is going.
And apparently BYU doing BYU things and trying to not let donors choose where money goes…:

With Tech’s moves recently, I see them as the favorite, no? They have an experienced group that has played together, whereas, our parts have to gel together.
Arizona is the favorite… their 5th year addition is a koa peat clone, plugging their only hole… they are as good as last year … that was a title contender
