finally someone is saying it bc ND being above Bama and BYU is criminal ![]()
Oh, alrighty. From Google:
The claim that
[Oklahoma State (OSU) Texas Techâs hand sign is debated, but the hand sign originated at Texas Tech in 1961.
The mascot, Pistol Pete, is a cowboy figure and is not related to a horse mascot; rather, Texas Techâs mascot is the [Masked Rider
The claim may have originated from a rivalry between the two schools.
Hand sign
- Texas Tech: The âGuns Upâ hand sign was created in 1961 by alumnus L. Glenn Dippel.
- OSU: The hand signâs adoption by OSU is a subject of debate, but its origin is at Texas Tech. Some sources claim the âGuns Upâ gesture was adopted by OSU in 2001, while others cite the origin at Texas Tech.
Horse
- Texas Tech: The Masked Rider is the mascot of Texas Tech, a live horse and rider.
- OSU: OSUâs mascot is Pistol Pete, who is represented as a cowboy figure and does not have a horse.
Rivalry
- Texas Tech vs. OSU: The rivalry is a long-standing one, and the claim that OSU copied Texas Techâs traditions likely stems from the intense competition between the two schools.
Hope this helps.

Earlier this week, The Athleticâs David Ubben conducted an exercise in which he was given blind resumes for seven bubble teams, and he had to determine which three would get into the playoff and which four would be left out.
In examining various metrics, Ubben determined that Alabama (ranked No. 10), Oklahoma (No. 8) and BYU should get in, while Utah, Miami (No. 12), Notre Dame (No. 9) and Vanderbilt (No. 14) should be left out.
Of âTeam E,â as BYU was identified in the exercise, Ubben wrote, âIt only has one loss and has a decent strength of scheduleâŠ, a strong strength of record and a strong opponent win percentage, making it the best candidate among the four candidates for the final spot.â
Of course if BYU loses the CCG, they are out of the playoffs anyway.
Arizona dangerous, glad we won that game
Since everyone is complaining about Notre Dame, and after UT beat A&M, the committee is going to replace ND with UT.
DO NOT BE SURPRISED!
the committee loves ND more than they love Alabama so that would be a shocker lol
though it is bizarre that the CFB subreddit is hyperfocused on the âtexas will get punished for scheduling ohio stateâ narrative when even WITH that loss theyâd be 7th on the next bracket if they didnât lose to florida

a loss in ccg, should not affect a comparison between a team that didnt play in a ccg. if BYU and Notre Dame win out and BYU loses in CCG they should still be in front of ND. they should be in front of them now, its all bs
That is probably our best performance of the season TBH. We not only won, we won on a day when Fifita played outstanding.
Disagree here. Teams should be judged on their whole season. CCG champs will certainly expect credit for their wins
You should get credit sure but a CCG shouldnât be used to ding a team that looses in comparison against teams that couldnât even make it to theirs or donât have one. Unless BYU gets blown out and looks completely uncompetitive they shouldnât get dinged for losing to Tech if they do.
If we were only able to keep A.J. Holmes Jr. What might have been. ![]()
Haulcy just made a pick and had a good runback to the OU 30. If he and Holmes had stayed our D would have been really stout.
Who would you have put on the bench for Holmes to play?
UH didnât do too bad in its 3rd year in the Big 12. Only one left-over 8 did better.

Looking at the rankings again, the top 5 of 6, who were not in the Big 12 four years ago, are keeping the Big 12 afloat.
9-3 is phenomenal. Iâll take it any day of the week.
Someone may have posted this already. But since Houston has joined the Big12 in 2023 season
(2-7)/(3-6)/(6-3) = 11-16 overall
Wins against:
*West Virginia
*Baylor x2
*TCU
*Kansas St
*Utah
*Oklahoma State
*Colorado
*Arizona
*Arizona State
*UCF
Teams UH hasnât beaten
*Iowa State
*BYU
*Texas Tech
*Cincinnati
*Kansas
