Big 12 Football 2025-2026

The perception of the league is not set by what one program at the bottom does. Purdue and Northwestern don’t alter the perception of the B1G. South Carolina and Kentucky don’t blemish the perception of the SEC.

Oklahoma State being a rudderless ship the past 2 years isn’t going to be held against the conference. As long as the middle to top end of the conference perform well and hold their own the B12 brand will be fine.

Of course they don’t…lol.

The reputation of the SEC and B1G is set…have you not been paying attention to the recent playoff bid talks.

A parasite B1G team losing isn’t going to hurt them one iota.

The Big 12 and the ACC, however, need to get every single OOC win they can get.

We need National Championship and your odds of winning one really are higher if you have more teams in the playoff

How does Oklahoma State hurt our conference…they are in our schedule. Say we beat Oregon State and then beat Texas Tech and barely climb into the top 25.

Next up …Oklahoma State…now instead of them being viewed as a formidable foe to help us CLIMB the rankings…they will view that win as a G6 opponent so YEAH none of this is a vacuum.

We cheer starting day one for ONE reason…to find a path to WIN a National Championship.

Unfortunately, the voters have a big say in our path to the playoff

Also, it’s not exactly like “spend more on salaries so you can hire better workers” was ever a new or innovative approach to begin with.

If you expect UH to ever win a National Championship in Football, you’re in for a bad time. Just chill out and enjoy the games for what they are. The Big 12 is a fun league with teams that play an exciting brand of football, but we probably won’t even see two Big 12 teams win a national championship in our lifetime.

You’re trying to be smart by overthinking and overcomplicating a very simple scenario. The B12 champion will be playing in the playoff for a shot at the National championship. The B12 runner-up could also have a spot in the playoff depending on how well they do during the season. So the goal is to get to Dallas (preferably undefeated) and win the B12 Championship and we will be in the playoff. It’s as simple as that. Doesn’t matter if Oklahoma State is sucking it up or not. We (like every other team in this conference) can control our own destiny each season from here on out. Win and we’re in.

Need to learn to worry about things we can control and not worry about things we can’t. OK State will get their mess sorted out (or not) and as long as we beat them they’re not going to negatively hurt our chances. If we don’t then we’re not really playoff worthy and the handwringing about them losing to Tulsa is moot.

@RezClone good call on this one.

BYUs QB started looking like a meh Freshman QB then really started playing well. Good to see progress in his game.

Michigan gashed Nebraska today… just terrible rush defense.

Really solid workman like win for BYU. I was very impressed.

Bear is very thick and has good burst downhill. He looks 19 in the face but his lower body looks 36. This is a good thing. He runs old man strong.

Spins a nice ball. Nothing too crazy downfield but that’s not really BYUs game right now i dont think.

Defense looked amazing. ECU couldnt get anything going. That QB is gonna have nightmares about getting those outside throws jumped. BYU doubled their INTs and they were both aggressive game changers.

I saw a lot of 3-4 concepts with a standup LEO or a like a heavy rolled down nickel. This is a nice wrinkle. I’ve always thought BYU could run more 5 tech looks instead of 3-tech 4-3 gap schemes. Im biased toward the former in this era of CFB. It’s proven to be more consistently effective in the Big 12, I think.

We know how good LJ Martin and Chase Roberts are. Those are NFL players. What great building blocks for a young power QB to have the hammer in the run game and someone to dot a low-risk sideline throw to w/ Roberts. I’d add Carsen Ryan into that mix. Really solid and crafty in the middle, true TE that helps in the run game. Really operates well in the short game and gives you YAC too. Maybe not a huge downfield over the top TE, but those are rare. Most teams dont have that or even really need that.

I really like how BYU can punch people in the mouth and dump it behind them when they are on their toes. This is a recurring theme w/ BYU, even under Retzlaff too. Slovis was a weird fit, especially because you need elite downfield personnel to run that. I think the style they had last year and this year really meshes. I think you have an identity. This is a team that is going to cause issues at the point of attack, stress the box, and put your box defenders and number counts in a bind. That pairs like PB & J with solid defense and special teams.

All around this offense I see people that are a load to deal with. Grown men. Even Moa, who didnt have a great game, is built.

Parker Kingston is the one exception he’s all gas he can fly. They need him to be big because i dont think they don’t have a lot of quality depth on the outside right now to attack downfield and work the perimeter, and also young QBs tend to struggle most throwing outside guys open because they lack the timing and conviction that comes with experience.

I think BYU is legit and should be ranked just inside the top 25. I watched probably 95% of snaps. I recorded and watched a lot of it this morning because of ASU BU being same time and turned into a barn burner, but i watched plenty live too until the game was outta reach.

Red hot this weekend. Im much better with a sample size. I think ive had one down weekend but the other ones have been either decent or a wash.

this one was my best. I’m 7-0-1 on the weekend. Probably will spoil my kids today with it somehow because this is my last weekend for a while before work takes them away :frowning::frowning::frowning: (harvest)

The ACC has been getting its butt kicked by the Big 12 and the rest of the P4 this year for the most part.

And in BBall, they only got one team in weekend two

Definitely the “crap” of the P4.

Great write up.

I was waiting for a game like this from Bear to actually feel good about my cougs.

I’m hoping to see Hagen and Tiger Bachmeier step up and be those deep threats because Kingston is rough. Even that pass downfield to start the game — sure it was tough — but he should have been able to keep that in the field of play.

It seems that every week they are adding something to his game. This may be a bigger part by year’s end.

Yeah. When they first stacked the box Bear was missing all his throws and he’s only shown flashes in the first 2 games - (meaning an occasional good throw).

It was great to see him settle in and throw a bunch of well placed balls on time in a row.

My view of the seasons potential just went from 7-5 to conference contender.

Oh please, beating those B1G & SEC stalwarts like Rutgers, Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota, Kentucky, Vandy, etc really pump up and impress viewers as formidable foes.

One thing and one thing only matters…$$$…The $EC/B1G have The Big Cigars behind them. Big 12 could have 5 teams in Top 10 and it wouldn’t matter

Utah has brought NOTHING to the Big 12 as of yet.

Money isn’t the only thing that matters. Perception creates reality, and while that perception was (at least in part) created by money and exposure, after a while it becomes an entity in and of itself. Even if the Big 12 (magically) was bestowed money and media parity over night, it would still take results…and time…to change the public perception.

Realistically that only happens with titles. Unfortunately, that’s harder for anyone not in the Big 10 and the SEC as the decks are stacked in their favor to get more teams in. It’s a perpetuating cycle that will be almost impossible to break without government intervention.
