Wasnt it desert swarm? Either way im a bears fan so because of Lance Briggs I’ll allow it.
Yup, you’re actually right. Either way, a great name for a defense
I know this is an odd comparison… but it feels very Bronco Mendenhall to me. BYU defenses.
Maybe less “talent” on his roster but the coach knows his guys amazingly well and what they can do. So a “running back” playing star is maximizing that player’s abilities.
I love it.
I think that’s an appropriate description.
Clearly the 3rd best conference this season at this point and it’s not even close…
Power 3!
I’m fine with fans being unrealistic. They are fans. They just shouldn’t be bad sports or rude after they lose
You’re gonna love your road trip to Tech one day in that case… ![]()

Speaking of fans, just found this video.
Disclaimer posting before i listen to the whole thing so i do NOT necessarily endorse its content lol. We’ll see.
The Houston one was very accurate.
Nice! Looks like a good time…

I’m one of those who had no idea why Iowa state would have a large following, then in the BIG12 we see how mobilized you are. We, Houston, just wish we had that following. We can get there, but it is going multiple years of high quality football. I’ve been to Ames, went by Jack Trice Stadiuum - wasn’t impressed. Honestly, it’s just a small town compared to Houston. However, it beats Lubbock by 1000. Then I see the picture above. We don’t compare yet for stadium fillup nor the ambience. As a Houston guy, we have seen a few big time events at our stadium. But are way back in fan base. Best of luck this week.
Indeed, Jerry. JTS is pretty bare bones and utilitarian, if I’m being honest. It’s 100% the fans that make it unique, so it gets the job done.
Ames is only like 70,000 ppl. When I drive down, it’s a little quicker from where I live to take the back way and come in on the NW side of town (not the interstate like most people)…I STILL marvel that it’s an hour drive on a 2 lane highway w/ nothing but rural corn fields as far as the eye can see, and then BOOM! you’re in Ames outta nowhere only a couple miles from JTS and Hilton. Like theres no visual hint that you’re coming up on a big town at all, let alone one that contains a fairly high-capacity P4 football stadium.
There’s literally zero traffic issues for me to fight getting there. I can leave an hour before I want to be there and it’s always that exact length of time til I’m parked and walking to the stadium property.
Now most people have a much different experience coming in off the interstate. So don’t think my experience is the norm because it’s not. Other than they see cornfields too lol.
