No they’d already voted to adopt one earlier in the year. Everyone’s aboard now.
Wrong thread maybe but beavers are among my favorite mascots to have some fun and games. ![]()
LbOregonSt 1-0 this week
This never the wrong thread. Let 'er rip.
Matt Campbell’s thoughts on Gundy firing:

Summary:
@BYUcougarfan Matt Campbell somehow answers yet another question with an even more Matt Campbell answer than any question he’s ever Matt Campbell’d before. Idk how he does it.
To replace Gundy, they will have to up the ante, plus pay off Gundy and will they find anyone with as good a track record, probably not. When Gundy was good he was real good. For the conference sake, I hope they make a splash hire, something that get’s the media buzzing, like our game with TT, and the blue uniforms are adding to the local media hype.
It’s such a cool venue. I really dig UC’s campus. The stadium is buried right in the middle of everything surrounded by old architecture and some of the wildest modern stuff too.
For sure. That stood out to me immediately just seeing pictures and videos.
ISU has played there once already and everyone gave it high marks, as well. Looks really cool.
I get jealous of UC because Houston is so new. Cincy’s campus is surrounded by old homes with front porches that are mostly rented to students. I had a friend that went to Miami up the road in Oxford that I visited a few times. UC kids knew how to have fun circa 1992.
TCU is going to carve us up. I think we can (potentially) match their offensive output, but not with the playcalling/design weve seen to start the year. Four yard out routes arent going to get it done.
I think the BYU game will be a slogfest. The offensive line needs to be ready for that one.
They’ll need something bigger than that.
Any other week of the year and I’d agree.
That week I think Iowa State rolls.
I dont know. ISUs defense is NOT good. I think you overestimate us. We are going to need to “outscore” quite a few opponents in order to win.
Oh goodness. What a great time to post a quick abbreviated snapshot of those Massey ratings I promised. ISU’s defense does not suck…And that’s even if you don’t consider Ark St a throwaway fluke/anomaly (of course it is)
IOWA STATE
Overall: 17th
PWR rating: 21th
Off: 32nd
Def: 16th
SOS (until now only): 37th
SOS (til now+future):47th
Expected remaining wins: 5.17
Expected remaining losses 2.83
BYU
Overall: 20th
PWR rating: 18th
Off: 23rd
Def: 19th
SOS (until now only): 114th
SOS (til now+future): 44th
Expected remaining wins: 5.67
Expected remaining losses: 3.33
@BYUcougarfan still a daunting matchup ISU may very well lose. Of course I have all the respect in the world for BYU. But if the Cyclones lose, it won’t be because the defense is bad omg lol. At JTS in this specific scenario? We have 8/10 years of sample size to prove otherwise, and that’s with comparable talent at least. I’d argue more than most. Certainly the most depth in the back 8, no doubt.
Last year was an anomaly. Jonesboro was an anomaly. You wanna talk offense that’s another issue entirely. ISU NEEDS a star to emerge at RB or WR. Until they have that, they are limited.
Idk about rolls tho. It’ll be a close game, I think. Ill be on pins and needles holding my breath for sure. But the defense will be fine.
Rule #1… never be jealous of Cinci…
With Iowa State coming off a bye and BYU coming off the rivalry game I just don’t see BYU winning ![]()
I do think BYU and Iowa State are both undefeated for that game.
“Every stadium on the road in this conference is a monster,” said Arizona coach Brent Brennan. “Every road game that we play is sold out, everywhere the crowd is all over your (expletive) the moment you get off the bus. It’s just part of playing in this conference.”

For all intents and purposes, it’s always 5 DBs with 3 true safeties. The catch is that the middle deep safety on average is expected to play a little more as a beefy downhill free-hitter type than he is a true deep centerfield FS type.
It’s called the “STAR” position… and Marcus Neal is the prototype for what they want there. A fearless running back body-type who is athletic enough to to fly downhill w/ speed, slip blocks, knife under and around blockers, cover anything from WRs to TEs to scat backs… But also is sturdy, fearless, and packs enough natural punch to meet anything in the hole w/ authority, from LJ Martin beasts to pulling guard monsters.
It’s a demanding skill set, but it’s also numbers game. On any P4 roster you are gonna find a tweener that can do it at a high level if coached properly. Neal is 6’1 215. He is supremely athletic for his size and just a natural football player. He makes everyone around him better. If he goes down, probably Ta’Shawn James (also 6’1 215) replaces him at the STAR. Right now they mix him in at the two other safety spots. I believe he’s started the last 3 games at safety since the freshman Khijohn Cummings-Coleman (5’11 205) gave up that stupid wide open bomb to Kansas State right after we when we went up 21 to 10 I believe. He’s a bit in the doghouse, but KC-C might be the most athletic out of all of them. Jamison Patton 6’2 210 is the other established starter at free safety.
See a trend tho? These guys would probably be solid running backs at maybe a smaller FBS or FCS school. Instead, Campell’s staff turns them into human missiles. Tackling ability is the #1 trait they look for. But the most effective human missile gets to play the STAR position. They are usually a captain on the defense, and they usually stay on the field the most.
I have a memory of them calling their defense the desert storm in the 2000s
