the bad data is the product of bias…
Interesting! Play-in games?

Might as well do a 24 team playoff.
Sure, you can’t remove all bias, but it is less than seen when you hand pick the teams.
NFL does it, why not? Taking into consideration the number of teams that are eligible to qualify for a 24-team playoff, 24 would be workable.
Well I like Notre Dame, but Texas can suck eggs. I also think BYU is deserving, but if they lose badly to Texas Tech they won’t have much argument. I think the perception (not that I agree) that the Big 12 is much weaker than the SEC and BIG hurts them a lot.
The main thing I want to see is Alabama left out if they lose to Georgia. I hate the large number of teams in conferences because it results in unbalanced schedules and some teams (A&M) have much easier paths to rack up wins.
Playoff should top out at 16. 10 autobids (one for each conference champion) and 6 at-large. Conferences get to determine their champion however they want. Miss out on the playoff? Too bad so sad, you had a chance to prove it on the field and failed to do so.
I really agree with Gruden here, the conference championship games are really penalizing the two teams that play in them. The college football championship is a Frankenstein monster built from the different parts of the bowl coalition, alliance, BCS, and all that came before it… and conferences are too big. Hopefully it can be fixed before it collapses
Bit why
BYU has a national audience
They draw interest from the lds community
Sure Texas and nd draw more but byu is a solid ratings getter
So really not much difference.
This is all about ESecPN trying to prop up its investment. They should not even be allowed to have a say in any of this.
$$$$$$$$$ is why
Next thing you know they will follow the basketball model and go to 32 teams, then 64 teams. Heck, may as well just have all teams in a playoff and we could have football until summer practice starts.
