I’m hoping for two teams, otherwise we are a G6 league…
sir, this is Wendys
Yals schedule is harsh down the stretch, you got Tech, Cinci, and Kansas State.
I like ISU but i just think the blue cougs are a complete set. Still hoping the 'clones can make the playoffs!
… but you’re going down in basketball and that ref friendly arena of yours. Grr…
ISU wore out D down. We had no sustained drives and after time our D broke.
I always like ISU and always rooted for them against Iowa.
I pretty much expect that we will get on a couple game roll and then have some unexplained stinker.
We know what our D is. We still don’t know what our Offense can be.
For the record, I do think Iowa State is better than BYU
I think the opposite, based on what ive seen so far.
Really sucks that with a competent QB we can have 2 more wins (OU +ISU).
Let’s see how we do vs BYU
With the offense that we had at TCU, UH probably wins against ISU.
We are undefeated if Zeon was QB1 from day 1
I agree.
Eh. Regardless, I’m not here to make an argument for BYU being good or bad. I am here for Houston football. It’s easier to agree than be argumentative.
Smith felt like the QB that was always almost.
Almost a good throw.
Almost a good run.
Almost ready to be big time.
I’m hopeful that we can make a bowl game with the switch.
I wonder when OSU fans will realize that Mike Grundy is Dana Holgerson 2.0. Average coach with an oversized ego.
Oh My !
A playoff game in Ames would be amazing for B12
Clone Nation needs their UH T-Shirts on vs KU.
ISU @ KU in 2 weeks wild regardless.
UH win turns it into more of party.
Lol nice.
It’s sad that we’ve scored approximately half as many points as the next lowest scoring team has.
Updated League standings as Texas Tech drops to 4th in the conference standings, Cinci now holds their own fate in their hands if they win out, playing Texas Tech, ISU, and Kansas State
Here is BYU’s schedule, you never know, but they have the creampuff tour compared to ISU, TT, KS, and Cinci. Let us not forget losing to UCONN when Greg Ward Jr got hurt and Erob got tossed
Texas Tech gets a little bit of break not having to play Kansas State, but Kansas State and ISU play in the season finale.
In all likelihood it’s a 3 horse race between BYU, ISU, and KSU. Both Tech and Cincy will have to outscore their deficiencies on defense for 5 straight games. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.
BYU has a huge advantage by playing KSU early and beating them. KSU has really improved and is rolling a bit since then. BYU will almost certainly make the game unless they drop 2.
ISU basically still has to win out. They are still very much in danger of missing out on the Title Game entirely with a loss to Kansas State in the finale, even if that is their only loss… unless K State drops a different game. Kansas State HAS to beat ISU in basically any senario, unless BYU or ISU drops three of their last 5. That’s the only way they get in losing to ISU.
SIDE NOTE although not technically a protected rivalry, ISU and KSU are very much bitter rivals. The game is called Farmaggedon and you can throw everything you think will happen out the window for that one.
Why? They are identical schools in too many ways to list, and they compete for the same niche in the conference for players and recruiting turf. They are constantly battling each other for recruiting turf and personnel, and Campbell increasingly moved in on their turf in KC and Colorado and wins battles fairly regularly. Nearly all of our best players were prized KState targets, and vice versa.
KState recruits Iowa very hard and wins their share as well. Klieman is an Iowa native and has a similar philosophy and blueprint to Campbell. KState has a somewhat deserved, but outdated, superiority complex over ISU given their history, and KSU fans are still struggling to come to grips with the threat that Campbell’s ISU presents to their long term stability.
Farmaggedon is also college football’s longest running rivalry, believe it or not. One that will soon come to an end, which is a huge mistake by the Big 12 office. Both schools are easily within upper midwest driving distance from each other (yes, its boring up here and this is all we have. We know, and we like that way.) and both fanbases travel at a borderline unhealthy obsessive clip.
Man imagine yal play K state two weeks in a row… madness. Sorry @BYUcougarfan, just spitballing, you know we are all rooting for ISU vs BYU
Also, to your side note. 1000% i think the big 12 needs to still consider divisions. I am sorry but ASU vs Cinci just doesn’t scratch my fancy as much as ASU vs Texas Tech (west texas vs arizona), or Houston vs Dallas with TCU-Houston. Infinitely more exciting when brain goes, okay this matchup makes sense. Not only that the TCU-Houston had huge viewership for a friday game.
FWIW its worth, im in favor of divisions, but lets get into it. Interestingly enough, the main argument(s) against divisions is the Texas teams would get split up OR they would all be lumped together. It puts a hard cap on the prospects that Texas will only get one postseason representative, and what if they lose to an inferior team in the non-texas division, but the 2nd best team was also in Texas? There is always the issue of a watered down Championship game to consider when you go to divisions, which was a HUGE problem in the Big 12 before 2011.
Either one doesnt maximize the Texas value, strangely enough. Though it would make geographic sense, it would either end rivalries by splitting Texas up in the regular season (you cant protect non-divison match ups), or they keep them all together and they beat each other up in basically what amounts to the all texas division plus ONLY 4 of the 5 western teams.
Someone is geographically going to get the short end of the stick in the first scenario with 8 team divisions, probably BYU from the west or OSU from the south. They both have a relative amount of pull compared to the other programs in the conference, relatively speaking.
Not to mention OSU and also KU and KSU to a lesser extent rely on those away games in TX for recruiting. Tech would probably be completely split off from the other texas schools in the other scenario. It just invites a whole lot of bickering and disunity, unfortunately. Like i said, I want divisions, but unity is our strongest assest over the last decade plus besides OU and UT. It’s literally the only reason the conference you exist in today even still exists at all!
So I would strong advise everyone to be careful once you start drawing lines in the sand and start giving members reasons to feel slighted or not getting the consideration they feel they deserve. It’s almost killed the big 12 no less than 3 times in our relatively short history. It sucks, A LOT. I will never get over the trauma of it. If you were here for it, trust me, you would get it 110%
FWIW, Iowa State doesnt really recruit Texas very hard under Campbell, so I dont really have a dog in the fight. It is worth noting that everyone recruits Texas, tho. Noboby ignores Texas completely, for good reason.
The top 3 definitely are KSU, BYU, and ISU.
The Big 12 Title game will be excellent!
