No to SDST.

Premier League reportedly could be Apple TV's next major media rights target
Apple TV could jump into the bidding war to land the media rights for one of the most famous leagues in the world, the Premier League.
No to SDST.
Thatās what i was thinkingā¦but id be ok with 3 P5s plus SDSU to get 4 additions.
Thatās the ONLY G5 Iād consider.
Iām also a hard NO on Gonzaga.
We donāt need to be a hybrid conference
We arent inviting any G5sā¦this is a PAC deal, either 2 or 4.
100% agree, especially given that the Big 12 contract is written such that only current P5 schools that are brought on get the $32 million from ESPN/Fox. Bringing on a G5 is a non-starter.
An article I was reading stated the pro rata clause in the Big XII ESPN contract was for other P5, so San Diego St. would get less per year for a specific amount of time. Even at the reduced rate however, it would be double what they make in the MWC.
Our new ESPN contract only pays for P5ās that are approved by ESPN, the Fox contract does not pay extra for any team.
Correct.
I would add that Fox is not contractually obligated to pay for new P5 teams like ESPN is, however, Fox is able to negotiate a value if a new team is added.
Some believe Fox is playing nothing for new teams, regardless. This isnāt accurate. The fact is Fox is simply saying, contractually, show us a team and weāll negotiate.
Back in 2016 when the Big 12 threatened to expand with G5 schools like Houston, Cincy etc., both ESPN and FOX had pro rata clauses.
ESPN paid the Big 12 several million to remove the pro rata clause. FOX called the Big 12ās bluff.
Fast forward to 2022. ESPN and FOX agree to early extensions with the Big 12. ESPN agrees to put the pro rata clause back in, but only for P5 schools. This gets media coverage.
However, best I can tell, the FOX pro rata clause was never removed, and was simply extended like everything else. Unless FOX specifically took it out (and there was no media report saying it was specifically deleted), it still applies. And it applies for any addition, including G5.
More than likely, itāll be a situation similar to the SEC when they added the Aggies. The networks did not pay more for the addition, and there was no negotiation until the contract was up.
SDSU is only G5 for the same reason we were G5- State Politics but⦠they are a P5 University and Athletic program.
Iād be ok adding them if it was with 3 P5 schools.
Itās a good strategic move plus we already have BYU in Utah
Colorado
Arizona
Arizona State
San Diego State
The Utah AD risked his schoolās P4 status with his idiotic statements and arrogance against BYU and the Big 12
Thatās a great piece of research right there.
I was just assuming that Yormark isnāt being this bold Ikeās he knows direct from FOX what they will or wouldnāt pay up for.
What you are saying makes it more concrete.
Will Apple TV still have wide scale PAC interest if they get the EPL ?
On Peacock +now.

Apple TV could jump into the bidding war to land the media rights for one of the most famous leagues in the world, the Premier League.
I agree we should avoid Utah, but i think Yormark wants only P5 PAC schoolsā¦If we take 2, the league will certainly fracture and then we can take who we want with next 2. It will be interesting to see what happensā¦Definitely should know something after PAC deadline April 15ā¦
Yormark does seem like a professional who takes phone calls from a school president/AD regardless of their use to him/B12.
Unless Yormark badly needed multiple late games, this seems like more wishful thinking.

Can you say that in a way where people like me understand. I donāt understand TV stuff (ergo ESPN vsā¦)and those types of contracts. I donāt have a grasp on the terminology.
Man, some of us have gotten really snobby since we have finally gained entry to a P5. Just remember, until July, we are still a G5.
If Fox doesnāt have to pay anything extra for additional teams, then why in the world would they. That would be against the best interests of its share holders.
we just fought 40 years to get out of that concentration camp. i donāt see the value of taking everyone with us. not that our preference counts for anything. i actually hope our leadership is quiet as a church mouse on realignment. just stay in our lane and adjust.
