I mean if they let them back in and they decide to leave next year. Is the exit fee even more? Wasnt the June 30th significant in that regard thus the âfake departureâ notice?
Thereâs no point in that if you ask me. AAC is pushed down as a G5 without UH, UCF, Cincy. Travel costs for them would be pretty crazy for the $. They should be in MWC until PAC or Big 12 comes calling. I gotta believe they get the call at some point.
But what if this isnât a bluff by the MWC?
I donât believe the MWC will kick out one of its most valuable brands. Theyâll hash it out.
And I still think that SDSU might leave. If they canât afford the 34mm payout, perhaps they delay 1 year before leaving the conference and pay less.
The aac might rescue them?
SDSU has done this before - with the Big East with Boise State. Itâs obvious SDSU think they are leaving soon.
Iâd keep the cash in escrow if I was the MWC and tell SDSU letâs readdress this next year

We should be glad they didnât come to the AAC. It would probably have been them in the b12 now and us playing Charlotte.

You think Iâm trying to be funny? Maybe you canât modulate your sense of humor. I was being honest. We got in because Tilman raised Hell with the help of some politicians. If there had been a way to keep us out the B12 would have done it. And bringing in SDSU would have been a way. No joking about it.

The B12 was going to take 4 schools. Had the Aztecs been in the AAC I think they would have been considered before UH. Iâm not saying they deserve it. Just that the B12 really didnât want us. Also, thereâs no doubt in my mind SDSU would have been a consistent top 3 in the AAC in all three major sports.

There was nothing stopping the Big 12 from choosing them over us. They took TCU from the MWC.

Practically speaking youâre correct. I just think the programs of the B12 would have lobbied for them over us. The AAC was right or wrong considered the best of the g5âs. The AAC programs had cachĂ©. My memory of the B12 process is not corrupted by time. I havenât forgotten who these people are.

Yes, they took TCU, but TCU had been a member of the original SWC club and had gained national recognition by winning the Rose Bowl. On the other hand, we were always considered a pariah. When we were admitted to the SWC it was because they figured we would be mediocre at best and give UT and Arkansas decent wins. When we went to the Cotton Bowl 3 of our first 4 years, it shook them to the core and UT, with itâs political connections in both the state legislature and the NCAA, did all it could to bury us.
