Let’s face it. What we knew about the dynamics of expansion in our posts on this topic a year ago was diddly. Knowing diddly allowed a lot more freedom of in our ideas (including crazy).
We have since been more informed and educated ourselves about what counts in expansion (it’s still a bit of a moving target).
But I do know, we need to make every expansion slot count. I like Yormark’s and/or Platt’s term that the teams we bring in should be a “Generational Upgrade” that is available soon. Try to figure out who those teams are and we can make the Big12 even greater.
My personal belief is that that UA, ASU, UU alliance doesn’t have to do with the Big 12, but it does have to do with the Pac 12. I think it is their way of telling Oregon and Washington that they don’t want to be price gouged by them.
FSU has no engineering program, a third tier law school, and a mid tier business program. Yet, based on USNWR, which is almost totally driven by acceptance stats, its a top 50 public school. More proof that USNWR is a joke.
FSU has not been particularly good in football the last 6 seasons, and I don’t see that changing. Its basketball program has had more sustained success.
Clemson would be a good add. While it is not AAU, some believe it is on the cusp. Great academics, especially in STEM. It is the leading automotive engineering school in the country other than Michigan.
I am not even sure what being AAU even means anymore. Heck, if Miami can be AAU, anyone can.
AAU is more like a club, more than anything. USNWR rankings are a joke. But unfortunately they got the public believing it isn’t and go to source to determine where Johnny and Susie might go to college
However I can now confirm via this tweet that the PAC will indeed be mercilessly and publicly slaughtered in classic Aztecian fashion possibly culminating with GK’s heart being ripped out of chest.
The PAC is like that couple you know that takes 5 years to get their divorce done when the whole thing could have been done in a weekend if they got in the room and really wanted to come to an agreement on the terms.
They met for an hour and then quit AGAIN. Keep dragging it out!!
There is a reason they don’t want to get this done…they know there is no outcome that will make it a good deal.
Maybe K is hoping more schools leave to avoid the embarrassment of having to explain the details of the horrible deal.
I’m kind of in that camp at this point, the fact that there was absolutely no leak of the numbers today, means it was even worse than the rumors last night.
GK was dealt an incredibly bad hand, but his and Scott’s leadership tenures are borderline criminal in how bad they are.
