Didn’t the Big 12 copyright every name between Big12 and Big 20?
Could it be this is how the B1G got the idea to grab USC and UCLA and to dismantle the PAC for the B1G’s own self interest? It could be all started with rumors and ideas discussed among fans in forums then guys like Flug amplified the idea until it reached the ears of the B1G’s head honchos who agreed with the idea and decided to make it happen! A self-fulfilling prophecy of some sort?
Another possibility is that USC and UCLA picked up this idea from fans in the forums and approached the B1G with the idea and the B1G agreed. Who knows! The Internet has allowed regular people’s voices to be heard, which is the reason why the American social media sites are censoring people’s voices like crazy at the behest of the US government! Anybody posing something criminal committed by the US government or some dirty schemes committed by the CIA get banned from Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter — especially before Elon Musk bought out Twitter! Countless Youtubers have said they were banned by Twitter and Facebook before they started making Youtube videos to get their voices out to the masses since the western media are nothing but propaganda machines!
BIG D conference
D for defense lol
And what schools are going to go to a downgraded P12 by 2024?
The MWC schools have to pay an exit fee of $34M and AAC about $18M. These schools would be going to the new PAC12 making about $10M and more than likely lose the A5 status and playoff autobid.
Delusional…everyone related to, or in the lifeless remains of the PAC, are just not rational or sane creatures. How is it even possible to be PAC level disconnected from reality?
Maybe they could rebrand as I-FCS.
Quick, someone check if the PAC signed a “Do Not Resuscitate” Order.
By the by, in 1996,;The SWC still had UH, Rice, TCU, and SMU.
Why didn’t it stay together by adding 4 or 5 schools?
Tulane, UNM, Air Force, La. Tech, Tulsa, and many more would have considered this. Indeed, U.H. Wound up in a conference with several of them anyway.
Our TV market would have included Houston, DFW, New Orleans, Albuquerque, Colorado, parts of Oklahoma, etc.
Why did this not happen? Probably was a better conference in 1996 than was CUSA.
TCU, SMU and Rice joined the WAC, Air Force, New Mexico, were already part of that.
UH joined a new conference called C-USA, Tulane was also a member of that.
TCU left the WAC and joined C-USA shortly after the MWC formed.
SMU and Rice left the WAC and joined C-USA
Looks like UH made the right choice.
That’s if they leave in 2024, if they leave in 2025 it’s $17M.
Whatever.
As if all those teams were going to pay their exit fees to join.
Speaking of exit fees, why the hell did the Pac not have any? Hindsight being 20/20, that was a dumb decision.
Because their tv deal was up.
Ahhhh, doy! Yah that makes sense.
What I can remember about that is that the privates were more partial to including other privates while UH wanted public schools. So my inference was that TCU and SMU and Rice liked Tulane, Tulsa, etc. But that doesn’t make a lot of sense because there really weren’t enough privates available to make it work. They should have gotten Louisville, Memphis, New Mexico, Tulane, and maybe AFA and Colorado State, which was strong back then.
I could be mistaken but i dont think the PAC ever had a GoR. And that decision was based upon the same freakish arrogance that the PAC Conference is well known for possesing…“we are too damn awesome for anyone to want to leave us”. Again, im not certain that they never had a GoR but i dont think they did. If anyone has any evidence to the contrary ill accept it of course.
Gonzaga and UCONN need the Big 12 more than the Big 12 needs them. The question also arises would they both be as powerful in the Big 12? I think not. Besides, Florida State, Miami and Clemson would bring Football power as well as basketball power, so why mess with the little guys?.
Its all about the numbers at this point. Show me the value added in media dollars and I will be on board.
