Damn how do you f*ck up that bad?
In my experience, there is a very complicated âmodelâ that has operated with inadequate control/review for a while. A simple bust can be compounded over time. New people inherit the model without fully understanding it. When people lack knowledge they wing it.
Lacrosse. Hmmmmm. Seems like an ACC sport.
Native American sport. First original one.
Im guessing we get USC and UCLA as partial members for Beach Volleyball and Denver in Womenâs Lacrosse.
Those are interesting selections.
I guess one doesnât require much equipment or clothing for that matter to cut down costs.
Lacrosse though? Hmm seems a bit random for this part of the country. Wondering what the other options were.
At Houston St.Johnâs lacrosse is probably the second biggest sport behind only football for boys, and is also one of the biggest sports for girls.
Donât you have to balance out Men and Women sportsâŠ50/50?
On the big board, for UH adds:
Menâs Soccer + Womenâs Gymnastics
Menâs Wrestling + Womenâs Beach Volleyball
Menâs Lacrosse + Womenâs Lacrosse
The next sport added still has to be for women. Football scholarships are just such a huge number.
We should offer womenâs bowling (we already have lanes. It would cost nothing) and beach volleyball.
Iâm not seeing menâs soccer simply because the Big 12 doesnât sponsor it.
If we added another menâs sportâŠit would probably need to be swimming or tennis.
No.
Womenâs gymnastics will be the first sport added if we add another sport.
Houston is a powerhouse of local gymnastic talent, and with Shannon Miller as an alum and Simone Biles as a potential coach (she has publicly said sheâd consider it), itâs a no brainer.
In stateâŠour only D1 competition would be from Texas Womenâs U., so weâd have little trouble with local recruiting.
Nope.
Fertitta Center isnât designed with retractable seats. There isnât enough space to host meets. Maybe Tilman gives us the Toyota Center but then where do we practice?
Startup costs for gymnastics are quite high.
Iâm pretty sure we could host events in the athletic/alumni center.
Where we plan on building out a world class indoor track facility?
Pretty sure it could be done without too many complications.
If Central Michigan and six other MAC teams can field D1 womenâs gymnastics teams with nowhere near the resources, infrastructure, and facilities that UH hasâŠthen itâs obviously NOT as tough to add as you allege.
Really just the cost of the apparatus, and the usual costs of coaches, uniforms, scholarships, etc.
It came up as recently as 2018.
Bowling ainât on the radar.
Womenâs Soccer is the equivalent to Menâs Football.
Itâs why we donât have a Menâs Soccer Team.
Womenâs soccer comes nowhere close to âequalizingâ the 85 scholarships of menâs football.
Thatâs why we have more than one womenâs only sport (tennis, swimming, volleyball, soccer).
