ND isnt AAU accredited but that probably wouldn’t matter to the B10. Here is an. example of why they have failed so far to gain AAU status.
It’s okay…she’s from Australia…
Believe it or not, it’s not always about athletics and $$$$. Ivy League schools are academics first and athletics second. They could make more $$$, but they choose not to. I’d bet that if Vanderbilt wasn’t a charter member of the SEC, they’d feel the same. When was the last time they were relevant in FB?
Some people are happy with nine figure portfolios and not driven for a tenth digit.
Every school in this country should be about academic as the Ivy. Football is Entertainment not a education. It’s gives the alum a tie to the School for those who have an emotional attachment to the school, and be a community on boards like this, beyond that I don’t see much else Imho. It’s just my viewpoint. Some may differ
Clearly I’m not talking about the Ivy League schools. USC is not an academics is the sole and primary focus institution. They’re not even Stanford in that regard. You don’t hire away Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma if you don’t have aspirations of national championships and being among the elite in college football. Vanderbilt is able to ride the coattails and get the same payout shares and increases in revenue from TV that the SEC will reap from the additions of Texas and OU. Best of both worlds for them. Get the money and don’t feel the pressure to get outstanding results on the field. USC has made it clear they don’t see it that way.
Very true. I just don’t think USC falls into that category lol
O, Vandy is a good look for the SEC. They can always point to Vandy, not to mention they have some really good public members like Florida, aTm and soon, Texas.
I think, but don’t know, that USC is wedded to the PAC for historical, sentimental and competitive reasons (they have had periods of domination). Yeah, they’d like the payout, but that won’t drive the bus if they move to the B1G.
USC is a USNEWS Top 25 school.
It’s an academic powerhouse.
AND a football blue blood.
With an athletic endowment higher than the total endowment of many colleges and universities, they don’t need B1G money, and have no desire to leave the West Coast behind just for the money.
Losing to UT was the best thing USC has done since forever ago.
I know what USC is. Thx.
CUSA invitees to the AAC are supposed to provide their exit notice by June 1st. This is after they requested for and received a one month extension from CUSA.
That extension expires in four days and hinges on AAC deal with leaving members. No announcement by Monday , means no big12 until July 2024.
Predicting, the AAC and big12 announce their moves this holiday weekend.
That’s brainstorming it, Tom. Hope it is so.
Most likely case - they finalize a deal & announce it on either next Tuesday or Wednesday - on the very last day possible for sure.
I think Riley can keep them in the top ten once he gets there and gets a foothold. They have access to plenty of talent for a NC.
They bring as much as Maryland and Rutgers, if not more. It doesn’t seem that the B1G expands to get more competition for their existing schools as much as getting more eyeballs and academic compatibility.
I want to be at the meeting when Florida, Alabama and Georgia laugh right in Texas’ face when Bevo starts trying to tell them how to run things. I’d pay $ to see that!
They may be happy with UT money wise, but I m certain that they won’t like it once UT starts trying to call the shots!
They need to meet their content needs and I believe they’ll bid quite a lot to make that happen. The real question is if we can get CBS/NBC/Fox/Turner to make bids to force them to bid up
Since this thread got brought back to life, it was interesting to go back and read the post from May 26/27.
Hehe yeah I didn’t even realize it was an old thread until I commented.
Turned out these comments had more merit than I thought!
Yeah, those late May comments are funny to see now.
With all the statements of trust me and emphasis to boot.
