Big12 Basketball 2024-25

Spacing would definitely be a weekness if players don’t develop their shot. Only 2 guys on the team have proven to shoot at a high level against D1 comp. It’s fair to worry about our spacing

I’d love to see an event in 1 place this time of the year.

NIL money to players not sanctioned.

Every Big XII team has all players invited and choose how to break up their own bag.

Every team has a 1/2 court scrimmage to 21. A quick 5 minute preview of the team and 15-20 minutes of ball. Stretch it out over a 3 day weekend or run 2 sides of the court with different teams at once for 2 days.

Capture attention during the sports dead time and build interest in the season.

Not gonna happen but I’m dying for more hoops news lol.

Nope. Don’t get me wrong. I like Baylor. And I have plenty of Baylor grads in my church. But the relationship of Baptists to Baylor is NOTHING like Catholics to Notre Dame or Mormons to BYU.

Kids in Baptist churches don’t grow up being indoctrinated in Baylor fandom…unless their parents are Baylor grads.

In addition, Baylor gets nothing, nada, zero funding from the SBC. They get some funding from the Texas Baptist convention, but I guarantee you, none of that money is going to NIL. If it was, there would be an absolute revolt among Texas Baptists.

In short, if Baylor’s NIL is big, it’s far more likely to be Chip and JoJo money than Baptist bucks.

I have cousins who are BU grads. One married East Texas lumber mills with big bucks who also is a BU grad. He mentioned once that he was getting tired of every communication from the school wanting more money. This was during the AB years. Also, a friend taught at BU and he said that the faculty complained about all of the money the school was spending on athletics. Rev is correct, I think the money comes more from individual donors than any church collectives. I know that that religion in which I grew up, the C of C, has churches that belong to giving “collectives,” they give part of their money to “Christian” (i.e. C of C) schools/universities (Abilene Christian being one) whereas other individual churches (all are autonomous) refuse to join these collectives, in fact, consider them “sinful.”

So you’re saying the coogs have no weakness ?

I still wouldn’t mind having a tall, dominant center. But I like our bigs. We also have to wait and see how Uzan adjusts to Sampson and the program.

That ship has sailed. Best bet is to develop a guy like McFarland

Nope. Coogs going undefeated!

No one has a Joel Embiid in college anymore lol.

I have never associated Baylor and SMU athletics with values or Christianity and personally both schools rank just a tad below how I feel about ut. I would say about the same as A&M but the Aggie fan base is just too insufferable not to dislike them on a grander scale.

Coach hurley nots they brought in 3 top transfers (who did almost 20 per) who only have 1 year of eligibility, that their 2 5star want to be 1 and done… the expectation is to win this year

context: asu is projected almost unanimously bottom 4…

They don’t exist anymore? They’re an extinct species?

Cincinnati newcomers putting some weight in their first month at UC.

6’8 Dillion Mitchell 195.8 to 207.2
6’3 Connor Hickman 195.2 to 201.4
6’11 Arrinton Page 233 to 243.8
6’8 Tyler Betsey 213.2 to 225.8
6’9 Tyler McKinley 239.2 to 246.4

Feels like the freshmen (Betsey/mckinley) are pretty big bodied dudes.

I think if Mike Rehfedt can get Dillion Mitchell to start the season around 215 to 220 and maintain athleticism, it’s going to be huge for the bearcats.

Houston & cincinnati have 2 of the best strength programs in the country. But it makes you wonder why other programs don’t take it nearly as serious

That’s a purely temporary weight gain, 4-8 hours later you lose it and a bunch of water weight…out your butt.

This seems like the failed Eric Musselman experiment in Arkansas last year. Not easy to transfer a group of talent into a winning team. I don’t think Hurley has it in him to do that.

Bugs Bunny Yawn GIF

Evan Miya released his transfer class rankings.

If the transfer portal
Is the way of the future, then It’s all good news for the big 12.

Big 12 has 11 teams in the top 50, which is highest among any conference. It has 7 teams in the top 25 of the transfer rankings , which is also is the highest.

UC’s is 22nd but it’s 7th best in the conference. For context, the dorks next door to us, Xavier, have the 26th best class and it’s the 2nd best in the big east.

Tons of talent coming into the league which means big 12 NIL and conference prestige is pretty damn high.
