After the “way too early” national rankings, I’m pretty hyped to see us picked behind Kansas in similar Big 12 rankings.

Heartland will probably have us 3rd, Goodman will have us 5th.

There’s a league ranking that puts us behind Kansas?

Last season we had 4 top 4 seeds, a 1, 2 3s and a 4. I feel like the Big12 gets maybe 5, but 3 of them will be 1/2s. Need a better showing early next year, SEC had some huge wins and dominated the conversation all year long.

Yes it’s time lol.

This thread reminds of the bar in Star Wars with all the aliens from around the galaxy. It’s just important to be a good guest and not get shot by Han Solo lol.

@justinhub2003 get your booty back in here and posting again lol. It’s nice seeing more teams represented lol.

@pesik am I missing anything here?

@BYUcougarfan - you are right and it sounds like the buzz about Wright III is legit.

Richie Saunders would be a big impact returner and will influence the look of the team one way or another. I think there is a real chance he’s going pro.

BYU could still use another high impact rim protector with a low post game.

I think BYU has 6 players as of now? lol. The portal era is wild.

Staters as of now that I know of:

  • Wright III (RUMOR Starting PG)
  • Keba Keita - Senior (starting C)
  • AJ Dybansta - Freshman (starter)

Committed but I’m not sure what their role is:

  • Xavion Staton - Freshman (big man with upside 2027 and beyond but a project)

  • Dominique Diomande (Washington; RS-Freshman: 6-7 wing from France- is he the Mag replacement?)

  • Mihailo Boskovic - Junior (a bigger role and more playing time for sure - possible starter)

TBD still:

  • Richie Saunders - Senior (Declare or return?)
    if he returns)
  • Dawson Baker - Senior (6th man or portal)
  • Brody Kozlowski - Sophomore (big rumored to return)
  • Khadim Mboup - Freshman (6’9” athlete)
  • Towsend Tripple - Junior (nice kid)
  • Max Triplett - Senior (nice kid)
  • Jared McGregor - Senior (nice kid)

Tanner Toolson maybe a portal? Trevin Knell role maybe?

— edit : I just read the portal thread. I can’t believe the stokes thing lol. I’ve seen stuff about that for a year but I guess it’s picked up steam.

…about sums things up here sometimes…ha ha!

that should be attainable if the 7 teams that made the dance last year collectively do about as expected instead of kinda terribly in noncon next year

im more worried about how does the lower half of the conference hold up and maybe getting a couple extra teams in the tournament

Elite pickup for BYU.

Huge loss for Baylor. Significantly hurts their prospects next season

Right now we have 6 schools in the preseason Top 25.

And others might surprise.

As usual The Big 12 will be very stout.

When you look at the talent playing in the Players Era tournament at Thanksgiving it will be absolutely stacked. I’m not sure how they are going to design it with 18 teams, but whoever wins it will probably be #1 December 1.

Look at his lineup:

  • Alabama
  • Auburn
  • Baylor
  • Creighton
  • Gonzaga
  • Houston
  • Iowa State
  • Kansas
  • Michigan
  • Notre Dame
  • Oregon
  • Rutgers
  • San Diego State
  • St. John’s
  • Syracuse
  • Tennessee
  • Texas A&M
  • Saint Joseph’s.
I don’t know how they’re going to do this with multiple teams from the same conference. With 4 Big XII and SEC teams, I’m thinking they will have 4 pools with a school in each pool.

In 2026, the tournament will expand to 32 schools.

I don’t want to hear anyone claim they don’t watch pro football, just college football. You have to drop down to high school or maybe even junior high to have amateur football anymore. With kids being paid what they are these days, they are pros – and eligible to be called out for poor play, just like the NFL pros.

Houston still looks like the crème de la crème.

I think right now my tier list

Tier 1:
Houston

Tier 2 (no order):
BYU
Kansas
Texas Tech
Arizona

Teams in sure will be tier 2/tourney teams as they also build rosters:
Baylor, Iowa state, K state

Teams I am hopeful for mostly off reputation and recent history:
TCU, WVU, Cincy

Maybe?
ASU, UCF

Good luck in ‘27
Utah, Colorado, Okie State

Eventually there will be something done about college sports as this is unsustainable. And to think, this stuff has only just begun.

You can have all the talent in the world, but once locker rooms get ripped apart there will be a LOT of ugly story lines in the coming years.
