Also, the Mediterranean… I was stationed in Sicily for 2 years and I could float in the Med.
Jerome Tang putting on a clinic with these highly paid transfers. What do these doubters have to say now? @2002Coog
Impressive!
Seems to be a three way race in the big 12.
Houston, Iowa State, and Arizona.
I’d say 4 way, including BYU. But I’m also not yet ruling out Texas Tech. I don’t think anyone is going unscathed this year. The winner may have 3 losses!
I get that part of BYU’s current brand and philosophy is playing on offense through the 3 nba talent level guys, but it makes me nervous that in a game BYU scored 104 points the big 3 scored 81. And most the 23 other points were garbage time points.
Edit: it’s also possible I’m being extra critical of my team to avoid clear biases
But, but, but Kansas has Darryn Peterson…
I do have clear bias there. There might be 5 freshmen in the big 12 alone I’d take over him
It’ll be hard to win @isu, @arizona, @houston @byu @Texas tech, and still hard @ phog allen
there’s so much noise around his availability that they’re probably on the same tier as tech as to where they shouldn’t be close to winning the B12 but at worst they should be a 5 seed in the actual dance
Bro why are they ALWAYS including cars in these videos. I assumed it was a Kyle Whittingham thing.
Now the mystery deepens. At least they didn’t rev an engine in this one
This video is like 15 years old.
But to some degree (and this is changing) it had to do with the different types of fans the schools had
I can tell by the shorts.
I was wearing the same thing. It’s crazy we thought this was the look playing a game where u really have to move and run and dribble lol
It was almost a statement to show u can still do those things while wearing something that made it more difficult
I still have and1 shorts from that era
Maybe they were directing the guy driving the wrecking ball to Huntsman arena…
but at the last minute the check didn’t clear… because they didn’t have private equity …
and they just gave it to Whittingham instead anyways
Speaking of, it is a shame the Huntsman center is about to be destroyed. It actually has a fair amount of history tied to it. It has seen a lot of NBA greats play in there. Idk. Maybe I am just nostalgic.
Also a bummer for their gymnastics fans. The only sports team who fills that place up.
bench scoring is helpful but its far from an end all be all as long as they’re still finding ways to impact the game
even last year our bench wasn’t scoring all that much but i’d say the lows this year are way lower than what they were our first 2 seasons in the B12
A couple weeks ago I thought Houston had taken a step back. I don’t think so anymore. Now I think they were just young. I think they are still the favorites to win the conference.
Probably. I actually like it more than Mackey, I’ll say that. It is very similar. And im on record saying Mackey is a dump, so this place is better but still in that ballpark.
Im a stickler about a few things from those designs. They age like milk in general.
It does have a rew redeeming qualities tho. Positives i see there:
Excellent video board jumbotron. Looks pretty state of the art, similar to new Hilton and Phog Allen ones (google for comparison) At least HAS a ground level concourse tunnels part way up the seating, so it’s better than straight below ground bowl. This is identical to Mackey tho. Would like the concourse a little closer to halfway which is kind of nit-pickey, so not buried as deep in ground and more of it above ground. I do like the ceiling design. It is legitimately a big capacity venue.
Negatives tho:
Biggest gripe is HATE HATE HATE the tall chunky walls w/ rail at the ends of those era of courts. Why? Were we planning to host bullfighting or rodeos there or something? The fact there is a railing to mitigate the risk of falls for FRONT ROW seating says a lot. And is it functional safety wise to have them elevated? No, just means it’s high enough for you to hurl something (or yourself) at a more effective angle for increased accuracy, distance, and devastation lol.
Dont like side tunnel. Don’t like wasted sideline space. Dont particularly like circular seating… the court is rectangled…Circle just gives you a slightly more comfortable view of the opposite end of the court, but a more uncomfortable view of your closer goal. If all the action happened at exactly center court, then itd be ideal.
Don’t like end tunnels much as it is, corner is always superior, but definitely dont need a side tunnel. It’s blocked off by a table and benches and such anyways.
