Big12 Basketball 2025-26

@Kyle_Be_Coogin replying about creighton’s struggles lol. Idk how it ended up here

Nah they spent good money. They just took iowa’s (fran’s) 2 best players and the big man is turning out to be a surprising bust in Omaha, and the guard is a solid white boy. More of a nice role player but Creighton is relying on him to pretty much be the guy.

Speaking of age, a few of you might appreciate some historical context and this authentic retro/nostalgic video of a time 40 yrs ago lol.

Hilton Magic, or ISU basketball as we know it, is having its 40th anniversary this season.

The 85-86 Cyclones, led by legends such as Jeff Hornacek, Jeff Grayer, and Gary Thompkins, beat Michigan in the Metrodome @ehog to advance to the Sweet 16 in front of 24,000 fans. (We’ll probably never see early round games like that again). They will be honored during halftime tomorrow.

It’s fair to say ISU Basketball has more or less been a thing here ever since, a cherished institution with its own unique passion and momentum. But these guys under Johnny Orr started it all. He was a character, too.

Prior to that year, ISU hadn’t won a tournament game in 42 years. Enjoy!

(Fast forward to 1:00, it was ripped off VHS lol)

I got Jeff Hornacek’s autograph in a big mall in Houston called the Galleria when I was in 8th grade…

My basketball coach had me get Jerry Sloan’s autograph for him…

Jazz lost that series to the Houston Rockets!

Love it. That is peak 90s!

If people find “Mommy” annoying…just imagine the nickname reception if we were 3 years deep into the Horny Era right now

That version of the Jazz is probably in the a top 2-3 teams I hated the most. It was fun watching the Rockets whip them and the Jazz never winning it all

Watching Utah and BYU. I don’t think either team knows what defense means.

Hahah. Looks like Self is cracking. I’ve never seen him be anything but gracious in post games past seasons.

understandable considering KU is in danger of having their 3rd “down” year in a row with the latter 2 being trainwrecks lol

Kansas basketball has been the B12 team most hurt by the addition of AAC teams + BYU, and PAC12 teams.

Some coaches mastered the old system.

Recruit 4 & 5 stars. And retain guys, cause no one is transferring out.

New system, NIL, building your “culture” quickly. Kansas has really struggled with that

BYU, Houston, Arizona, seem like they’ve adapted to this system more than Kansas

Self, is a legend. Hes had the health issues lately. Sometimes you do lose your fastball

I really don’t think any of that is it. Bill has had serious health issues, and he’s already won a natty.

@Hill past Kansas teams probably wouldn’t have touched AJ Storr. They did. It was a disaster

Its definitely a Bill Self issue. Roster makeup, they should have the best GM in college basketball. They haven’t hit homeruns in the portal

This team this yr shouldn’t be 1-2 Big12 play. The mentally tough Kansas teams. Just haven’t had that in a while. Starts with the coach

It’s definitely a Bill Self thing, for the reasons we listed. That has way more to do with Kansas than the new Big12 teams or NIL

This is already a disaster of a game for BYU. Hope they pull it out.

Road games are tough. Even with 7 fans in the arena at Penn State.
