i know you said we cant back anything on holt cause his a freshman… but ive seen enough tape on him to know he is defensively dominant
i saw him in eurocamp last year (was a junior) against the best euro prospect (who played college ball last year) … they could not get the ball past half court with him…
context: ivan played there too (who is also a dog on defense)- i thought holt was the best defender there

I think I’d take Chinyelu and Bidunga over Krivas… Krivas will be one of the top centers… Idk about the best center in the country…

Well, the vast majority of Oglalas are likely fairly close distant relatives somehow…(if that makes any sense lol)
Fwiw, Crazy Horse did not (likely) have any children, so he doesn’t have any direct descendants that can be proven. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t have surviving relatives of course, but I am not one that I know of.
My Great Grandfather was Frank Fools Crow [commence google search & you’ll find him], who himself was a nephew of Black Elk. @RobDob
Frank’s grandfathers were Porcupine Tail and Knife Chief, both somewhat famous but you probably hadn’t heard of them.
The latter was an important warrior at Battle of LBH. The former has a town named after him on the Rez.
Also side note, they are fairly protective over tribal membership. You gotta fill out a family tree and there’s a paper trail of associated birth certificates and other relevant documentation that goes back so far to around the time of the original establishment of the Reservation, etc. That’s your best bet.
That is to say, just because you have Indian blood and know that you are Oglala Sioux for whatever reason, you have to be able to prove it with your direct biological parent’s existing membership. Otherwise it’s a nightmare trying to establish that.
This is a common problem for those who got adopted out, especially older people who were born at a time when there was still a stigma against documenting that stuff well in the white world, especially in areas close to the Rez, as there were no legal protections to keep 3rd parties and adoption agencies from severing that tie.
These children at the time were sadly often seen as better off not knowing who their biological parents were. Since the 70s, it’s a lot harder to remove Indians from their heritage, the tribe, or their biological Native parent(s). These laws were put in place literally by act of Congress.

These are the listings of all B12 teams NIL payment to their players in the top 100 of the On3 list:

TCU: 903K
ISU: 615K & 548K
CINCY: 558K
Since the 100th rated player on the On3 list is making only $500K, and UH has one player making $1.2M and the next highest making $737K, there is no way we are paying $9-$12 million bucks for our roster.
$1.2M and $737K only equals $1.937M. If the remaining 11 players each made $499K, our total would only be $7.426 million bucks. Something is wrong with one or both lists above which are not nearly close to each other.
A legend and a man just as historical as Red Cloud or Crazy Horse (well, kinda sorta). In my reading list before football season.

I know this much… #1 rated, 7 foot, 300 lb centers aren’t cheap…
Potential defensive players of the year aren’t cheap…
Top rated transfer PGs aren’t cheap…
Our roster is one of the most expensive in the country but you can keep trying to find reasons not to believe that…

I know what Krivas is capable of as do those ranking him. He also could be one of those who is more status quo with increased responsibilities. Be interesting to see if he can be a dominant force.
And Holt being a guy who can carry a huge weight as a freshman is a wait and see.
That’s not downplaying it is waiting to see and haven’t even gotten into the guards they are replacing.
All I know is UH AIN’T GETTING PUSHED AROUND in the paint this season!!!
