The statement said “currently” not with the team. Seems to leave open the possibility of rejoining…
Hope the kids gets his life back on track, he’s got all the resources he needs to do so.
Jizzle will have to want to help himself. Plenty of guys have tried over this past month. He left Houston and his dad cut him off.
He needs to be with John Lucas for at least the next year. Not hanging out with Pac-Man jones and Big Meech.
Won’t happen. Had his chance.
Yep pac man jones is an awful influence. Same for big Meech. But even with Meech’s history, pac man is just not some one you want a young person learning from
Uc may look to fill his spot quickly. Not many grest Choices left, mostly insurance in case of injury
you already have enough pieces.
why would you need a replacement ???
without jizzle there are still 3 other pgs on roster… there are still 6 players who started on major teams, then 2 top 50 recruits, another international guard , OR the 4star you redshirted last year . STILL on roster
context: houston has only had 1 pg on roster the last 4 seasons
Big Meech??? Not his son? Big Meech is kinda old to be hanging with a college player. Then again so is Pac Man so…
Edit: wow a quick google search shows it is him and not his son.
He was in rehab in Houston correct?
You guys have Kriisa……what else could you need.

Not sure but trilly mentioned a name. Derrick Butler from Bowling Green. He’s from Charlotte where Wes has some ties
Purely depth. Especially with Kriisa coming off injury
He gets an extra year via being a juco.
42% from 3 his 1st year D1
35% in his 2nd
Double the Foul rate of Jizzle
After the Jizzle Departure UC’s Depth now looks something like this:
PG: DayDay Thomas/Kerr Kriisa/Keyshaun Tillery
SG: Sincere Harris/Jordi Rodriguez/Kerr Kriisa
SF/Wing: Shon Abaev/Jalen Celestine/Jordi Rodriguez/Baba Miller
PF: Baba MIller/Jalen Haynes/Tyler McKinley/Jalen Celestine
C: Moustapha Thiam/Jalen Haynes/Halvine Dzellat
They have a ton of Positional Versatility. Most Guys outside the freshman will be asked to play multiple spots and could have decent success at it.
But my biggest issue is… when you look at this roster, its hard to say who is your best player and to me, I always want to know who the best player is on a roster and I want it to be clear cut. This looks like a nice army but with no General.
Thiam…it’s Thiam
As far as scoring … abeav could be your top scorer
And I don’t like depth charts by postion but by order … it’s skews or others wise
I have the same starting
- day day
- Abeav
- Sincere
- baba
- Thiam
Bench
- Kerr
- Celestine
- Haynes
- Tillery
If abeav is good, this will be the entire rotation imo
dayday the main point, kerr is the main guard off the bench for both dayday and abeav…and for small ball
celestine is the back up 3 and 4
haynes is the backup 5 … lower on the depth chart, cause i think there will be an effort to keep thiam on the floor
if abaev is a flop, kerr starts …then jordi and tillery both get PT and in the rotation… as you will be in need of more shooters and a backup pg … if jordi (also a high risk player) isnt good… its minutes for tillery and celestine moves exclusively the wing… and his 4 minutes and given to McKinley
Thiam has some maturing to do. He may be the most skilled big but if he is the top player I think Cincinnati may be in trouble.
From what I have seen is Dayday needs to lead this team. They do have some interesting pieces but also still think there are some shortcomings if we are talking about Big 12 contender.
I am hearing that Kerr’s ankle is finally all healed
Agree with this take. I for one, dont like like when Centers are your best player. Id rather it be a wing or Guard. They touch the ball more, have less foul issues and the ballhandling is better.
IF UC had booted Jizzle in the early offseason, and took the outrageous money we are paying him and subbed it with a scoring wing or guard then this team looks really friction good. But I have a feeling this team is mediocre and this is Wes Millers last season as a head coach for UC.
Jizzle’s dad got ejected from the game in Ames for being too belligerent. That’s actually REALLY hard to do as an opposing team parent at Hilton.
I can think of multiple instances off the top of my head where there’s been bad family member conduct, and none of those people ever got ejected.
Not sure Jizzle’s issues aren’t more systemic than we realize. I doubt he’s getting much pressure at home to reflect on his actions and make change for the better. Good on Wes Miller for drawing a line.
Thiam had an extremely good true freshmen season …as an early enrollee (should have been a HS senior)
10pt 6rbs and nearly 3blks per game … no one believes in wes miller, but had thiam gone to any major team, theyd be talks of him being an all-american with the expected sophomore jump … a 7’2 physical center that can shoot
and best player doesnt mean “only good player”… thiam likely your best player but you can have other stars… ie i think jojo tugler will be our best player next year… but i think milos can also be a star
and justin… you made multiple comments insinuation that UC is now lacking??? and needed to use jizzles money on someone esle… you were already over saturated BEFORE jizzle left…you ar still one of the deepest teams in the nation
your current roster
G - former #1 juco guard, on his 5th year - effecient stats
G - McDonalds all-american
G - all-big 12 defense (only 5 selected in entire league) - junior
F - 6’11 stretch 4, on NBA radar as a senior
C - 7’2 domiant center , on NBA radars
G - Starting PG of a 33win 1 seed team, 80 3s a season
F - Starting Stretch 4/Wing for a tournament Baylor
F - 14pts 7rbs low post bully (260lbs), from a top 80 team
G - top 50 recruit, PG
G - 22yr 6’6 international sharp shooter (puts up more stats that miller on Spanish team)
F- top 80 recruit that had a medical redshirt last year
the fact that you keep pointing to roster is so crazy to me… your teams was too deep to begin with… before you lost jizzle i wasnt sure where harris would get minutes …(who he could be on the floor with since he cant shoot and jizzle was 25% from 3)
I do think UC could be medicore but it has nothing to do with talent// but coaching
Texas tech is seen as a top 5/top 10 team - expected atleast elite 8 team
- Toppin is a player of the year (and a big- since we dont like big star players) look at the rest
- a 10pt pg they are hoping breaks out, 3 10-13pts transfers from mid majors – to round out the starting line up
- 6th man is 4 pt transfer from vcu, great shot blocker but insane foul trouble
- 7th man 2pt deep bench Vill player, a bad vill team
- 8th & 9th man - less than 1pt per game freshmen who were 3tars
- 10th &11th man - outside the top 100 4star recuits
tech is expected to start Tyeree Bryan a 10pt scorer from a NIT santa clara… and Donovan Atwell a 13pts scorer from a non post season UNCG
I can make a case that ALL the top 10 players on UC would start on texas tech (top 10 without jizzle)
You can be deep and yet still lack star power at the guard spot.
I believe college basketball is still a guards game. And I don’t think we have a single guy you can throw the ball too and say go get a bucket or go get fouled.
No Jarron Cumberland or Sean Kilpatricks to be found on this roster. I’d even take a Troy caupain
