Is this just a photoshop for a marketing imagine or do we have a practice field or locker room with this black look?

I am certain it is in the ops building, because black turf would make TDECU stadium 178 degrees Fahrenheit

That was taken in the weight room of the FOC. You can see it around the 10 minute mark in this tour video from CoogTV with our Senior Associate AD, TJ, who is our lead on facilities/capital projects.

Black turf is too gimmicky. In fact, embarassingly so.

As I recall, Eastern Washington has RED turf. It’s weird looking, but sorta cool.

When we were in discussions for the new stadium I told a friend of mine that a major oil company was going to fund the stadium with the requirement that the field turf be black with gold yard line makers and numbers. For those who remember the Beverly Hillbillies theme song, “Black Gold”, “Texas Tea”.

It wasn’t a retractable roof. America’s team designed Texas Stadium to let God have a view.

I get the consensus is no color turf field. But if we did, do we need permission from Boise? I’d think we would?

Personally, I find it hard to stare at Boise’s field for long.

I wish they would keep the field simple. Bold “Houston” in one end zone and “Cougars” in the other.
