Darrell Griffith isn’t and was not Clyde Drexler.
The Doctors of Dunk was coming out of the primordial ooze. Phi Slamma Jamma was humans at their utmost potential.
We as a human race have gone down hill since.

Again UCLA is top 5 all time in wins, win %, tourney appearances, sweet sixteens, final fours, championships, and number of NBA players produced. They’re as blue blood as they come. You’re opinions entirely valid just realize that it’s a minority opinion. Majority of people view UCLA as a blue blood.
Also just wanted to separately address the last line. In 2020-2021 UCLA went on a miracle final four run when they barely even made the tourney. The next season they were preseason #2. They are absolutely adored by the media who will bend over backwards to overrate them because they want them to be good so bad.
And since you used UT football as a comp let’s look at the two programs. UT won a title in 2005, 17 seasons ago. Since then they’ve been ranked in the preseason 12 times (12/17 = 70.5%). UCLA won a title in 1995, 28 seasons ago. Since then they’ve been ranked in the preseason 21 times (21/28 = 75%). So UCLA receives more preseason love in their sport despite being further removed from their last title and playing in a sport where it’s actually harder to make the T-25 because there’s more teams.
UCLA basketball > UT football
As I stated, they are on an uptick with Cronin as coach and the recruiting he’s been doing. They also were bro going back several starters from that team. But yeah, they did get some hype after the FF run. I’ll give you that much.
Holy cow if we are going to say ut is a football blue blood and ucla is not for hoops then this is prob not worth discussing anymore… beginning to think we are just being trolled
Don’t take what I said out of context. UT football gets blue blood treatment if you look at preseason rankings. UCLA usually hasn’t received the same treatment for the past 40 years. Nobody said anything about UT football being more of a blue blood than UCLA basketball.
Pay attention.
Your claim that UCLA doesn’t get the same treatment as UT football is verifiably false.
And pointless
Settled - UCLA is a blueblood
Uhhhh…let’s see.
You say that the greatest program of all-time somehow ISN’T a “blue blood?”
Uhhhhh…no.
Whatever.
If the greatest program of all time isn’t a blue blood, then I can’t imagine who on earth is.
So what, they earned it.
I think you missed the point of my comment. of course they’ve earned that treatment but the guy I was responding to was acting like UCLA doesn’t receive media hype or preseason buzz. Thats obviously not the case if you look at their history with the preseason AP voting.
Because historically for the past 35 years they haven’t.
Criteria is right there in front of you. Tradition, Consistency, and Resources. Please tell me where UCLA has been consistent the past 40 years. I’ll wait.
Again you’re cherry-picking. When you look at the totality of their history, UCLA is top 5 all-time in every significant metric.
I never argued that. But are they on the same level as the Duke, UNC, UK, and KU? They haven’t been for 40 years.
To you? No. To most people? Yes. Again your opinions valid it’s just not widely accepted.
I came up in the era of UCLA Lew Alcindor, Bill Walton, etc. Sidney Wicks etc. Those we’re some great teams and they had an amazing run, under the wizard of Westwood. They are definitely a blue blood, their are Mount Olympus in CBB.
But who had the greater, more impactful influence?
Did the shot clock happen after our loss to NCST? Same as the 15 yards for pass interference, happed after our R&S. UH is always changing college sports.
