BOOM! c/o 2020 Kiyron Powell Commits (Update: Signed)

Kelvin went over our recruits at last nite’s show. Kiyron’s HS coach had emailed the info on his last two games, I believe he had 14 points and 11 rebounds in each game, and had 11 blocked shots in one and 10 in the other. What was really interesting is that he played only 2 1/2 quarters in each

Very good rebounder as well. Seen quite few highlights on him n he may be very close to shot blocking ability (timing) where CHarris is as a SR this year.

Only 5 nominated from Indiana and 18 from Texas. Signing three out of 23 ain’t bad. Who does the selecting of the final teams?

Nice to see the midrange jumper from the big guy along with the blocks and rebounds.

That was nearly a 3 pointer. If that’s a shot he makes 45% of the time, then whoo-boy!

Bump. Just to remind everyone coach got us this guy coming in.

He will benefit from bulking up in the weight room when he gets here

Oh my goodness…those are gawdy numbers. I like it!

He may need a year us in the weight room before he can log serious min at center, but looking forward to seeing where he is at by next fall.

Coach is going to be in Evansville to watch him live tonight, according to the coach’s show.

I don’t think he will start but I would bet he sees some playing time as a true freshman…he is skinny and raw, but appears to be very talented…

You can’t teach size.

What a stud!!!

You can’t teach tall, anyway. If he tries to play at 205 in D1 ball, he’ll get seriously abused. It would be good if he could get up to at least 220 before Midnight Madness kicks off.

Not so sure about getting seriously abused. Akok Akok, who is 6’9" or 6’10", 195 lb, was putting up numbers for UConn this year before his injury (5.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and an AAC-leading 2.6 bpg) that I think we would all gladly take from Powell next year. But it would be great if Powell could put on some weight, and he likely will with our S&C coach/program.
