BOOM! Conner Weigman commits to Houston!

Sounds like you’re saying our OL coach is the weak link. I might agree

That’s not at all what I’m saying. I’m saying that Barbay wasn’t creative enough in his play calling to be effective in the passing game. We had TWO mobile QBs & look where that got us. Instead of scheming guys open to add another dimension to the offense that defenses would’vehad to respect, he repeatedly resorted to the QB draw, which RARELY worked. Not once did i ever see him roll the pocket for a flood concept. I never saw an all curls concept. Never saw him run the triple option, nor did he use the speed option. There’s so many things you can do with a shoddy oline to have success & Barbay did NONE of them.

He can’t pass from his backside looking at the sky we need an OL first

Yep, and you don’t even have to be some kind of prodigy OC to figure it out.

I’m amused when we talk about a QB’s rushing yards. Remember, a sack is lost yards rushing in college not passing like it is the NFL.

I am saying he made lots of big runs for Tulane while playing QB…I watched him do it.

Weigman is the wrong QB for our offense. He cant run. He gained less than 50 yards rushing his whole time at Aggieland. He got beat out by Reed because Reed can run and he CANT. Fritz’s offense needs a QB who can run and throw. Carlisle can be that QB…Henderson can be that QB. McMickle could even be that QB…Criss could be that QB if we could just improve his passing. We should coach him up and work him hard in Spring. Weigman is a Kyle Allen junior…who was never a good QB in college. He needs to be in a pro passing offense with a good OL to exploit what he CAN do. That isnt us.

Zeon is a decent passer. I don’t know why it keeps being said that he can’t pass.

Aldine it’s all Good, but you’re going in circles. You’ve mentioned these items several times, i agree w majority of them.

Let me ask it the simplest way possible.

  1. Do u believe the #GoCoogs are in discussions w bringing said QB Weigman from Cypress Tx. ( not whether he fits, that’s above you/my pay grade… trust me. Our opinions don’t count 1 penny) to the UH Football program.

  2. Or do you believe that the reports are erroneous n nobody from the Coogs have reached out to Weigman, family, representative(s).

Choose one pls n we can move on.

#GoCoogs

Edit: unfortunately i don’t agree that Chriss can be Coached up. His arm strength isWhatItIs n we’ll be in same sinking boat next Fall. But i like to keep any deficiencies on current UH player to a minimum.

Monte you’re a sweetheart but you’re as accurate as a broken compass

Tell me again how he can’t run.

Phew… That arm talent is something.

The 50 yds keeps coming up. He had 260 yds @ 4.0 yrs/carry at Aggieland.

CWF said that for…motivation UH1927. This is basic coaching 101. New HC = new slate, you start on equal footing. You can be sure that CWF has always been prepared. That is what has made him the HC that he is today. He is analyst through and through.

A&M has been a graveyard for top rated QBs. I was afraid they would ruin Weigman.

Color me surprised if he comes here.

Right on. Of course he can run in fact when you look at hips vs legs positioning he is an effective runner. He has got better than average footwork for his size.

Ohh he can throw for sure. Not really any type throw that he can’t make at high level. What i thought he was very good at… again talking H.S. level ( although very good competition ) was reading the rush early and stepping outside the pocket to make his reads. He’s very efficient w that part or at least imo he was great at it. Maybe high IQ for Football. I’ll let the people who have coached him grade that part.

Aside from a half dozen completions this year that I didn’t think Chriss had in him, his passing was below average. More frustrating since it was clear the passing game was simplified to accommodate Chriss’ skill.

Weigman may not be the runner Chriss is, but if he can read defenses and get the ball out quickly, he can negate what opposing defenses feasted on this year. Brady, Manning, Marino and Brees were not mobile and had HOF careers.

I’m more worried about UH being able to afford the NIL than if Weigman can be successful.

Reading this reminds me of Zeon’s last fumble against BYU when the rush came and he ran backwards.
