I don’t know how this is any different than Mcingvale supporting the basketball program.

I paid Conner to commit to Houston

Could you tell us the exact amount?

I sent him some leftover Cougar Cash from when I was a student

Guessing whatever was left in the cougar card

McIngvale is cutting Gallery Furniture promos from his Houston Methodist hospital bed after open heart surgery. He had a Gallery Furniture recliner delivered to his hospital room. He does his updates/promos getting oxygen with a nasal cannula.

Doing promos from your hospital bed after open heart surgery is a bit over the top.

Get well Mac.

McMickle is down the ranking because of injury. He’s got massive stud potential

Spin it however makes you feel right. Coach gotta bone thrown his way through SHSU and Weigman’s SHSU connects. #CarryOn

There’s also precedent now for coaches using part of their salary to acquire players

What has this got to do with the UH situation?

The new QB was paid for by a ā€œmystery equity sourceā€ and we are going to start to see coaches using their own salary to upgrade their own team…now that is a real investment!

Actually, Matt Thomas (who knows people within the athletic department) said on his show last week, something along the lines of ā€œThe interesting thing about Weigman is that he didn’t command much NIL, if at allā€ which goes in line with what some of our insiders have said on here. Matt Thomas would know.

Well the thing about it is that he hasn’t really shown enough to even command high NIL offers at big schools in the first place…

and I don’t say that to talk down on the kid, he very well could be an incredible QB for UH. I also don’t think he fit the system at A&M which caters more towards a mobile QB. He’s also known to be injury-prone

With that said, most of the big schools have already plugged their QB needs at this point.

Conner likely chose UH because of the following:

  1. Close to his hometown
  2. Probably thinks he will fare better in the Big 12 instead of the SEC
  3. Following point #2, has a better chance at the NFL
  4. Trusts what Willie Fritz is building here
  5. Knows he would likely be the starter on day 1

Most of these points probably matter more than some meager NIL deal that he doesn’t financially need perhaps compared to other athletes who are in more dire financial needs to support their family or some sort of situation in that regard

Probably wasn’t meager and probably wanted it in 1 installment.

Dont think it was nothing

He could get those things anywhere and with higher ranked players

I do think all those things did play into it though if not he wouldnt consider us.

Before he committed, the landing spots that most analysts projected were not elite programs even in the P2.

Missouri and Wisconsin, for example, are great institutions, but Conner at this point probably feels he will fare out much better against easier Big 12 opponents than going against SEC or Big Ten gauntlets week in week out. I’m not saying he couldn’t do it personally, because he did win big games at A&M, but even with NIL it’s probably a long term risk especially if it doesn’t work out.

Based on how his time concluded at A&M, I just don’t think he would be able to command even 6 figure NIL deals. Perhaps maybe mid 5 figures, but like I said above, at what cost? 5 figures probably isn’t going to mean much to a kid from Bridgeland

I’m sure there are teams that would pay that type of money. Matt made it seem like it wasn’t an ā€œend all be allā€ to coming here. At least, that is how I took it. I could have misunderstood him but remember, he is a part of that Jimbo Fisher class that was the top rated class and was rumored to be compensated well.

He chose UH mainly due to him probably wanting to be closer to home. But I also think he trusts what CWF is trying to build here.

He’s got plenty of $ I’d assume.

lol at SEC and Big Ten ā€œgauntlet.ā€

Here are three conference schedule ratings difficulties according to Sagarin.

38.38
38.56
61.78

One of those is ours. One is a Big Ten playoff team’s schedule. The other an SEC playoff team’s schedule.

I think he will do fine here. He has great field awareness. He’s not a rocket launcher but he doesn’t have to be. Case is the most prolific passer in college football history.
