BOOM! Conner Weigman commits to Houston!

Donovan Smith got 6 figures and that was 2 years ago. I’m sure Weigman got at least as much as Smith.

I wouldn’t exactly compare Bridgeland to River Oaks. $50k absolutely means something to people that live there.

Get those facts outta here. P2 clap clap clap P2 clap clap clap…

Lotta “grasping” for straws there, considering you don’t know Conner. I say that respectfully.

I wonder if this could be the 1.2 million we’re saving from Dana getting the Nebraska OC job. That money is being funneled back into NIL? For basketball, we’re playing in those NIL tournaments which is going to help plus, we’re selling out basketball season tickets and premium seating.

Conner will come in and should be solid. I think if he goes down you see McMickle come in. After that its a fight.

He was benched for Marcel Reed

Reed was QB for last 4 games plus 1/2 of the LSU game and their record was 2-3. The Ags lost 3 of the last 4 under Reed. Perhaps it has less to do with either QB rather it is likely the team or coaching that was their problem.Saying that Weigman was the problem and replacing him with Reed was a good thing is questionable.

I didn’t say it was a good or bad decision

I’m merely stating what factually happened

So you weren’t suggesting that he was replaced because he wasn’t performing? The inference is certainly there considering the suppositions you made in a previous post.

If we was performing good, then why would he get benched?

Because the rest of the team rather sucked and he was easier to replace than the entire team. The fact is the next guy sucked even more if the metric is wins and losses. From the way the season unfolded I would say a desperate coach not wanting to lose to LSU threw his starting QB under the bus. Then that coach with that replacement QB lost 3 of his last 4 games.

“The rest of the team rather sucked”

A&M certainly did not suck….they have a lot of talent there.

Aggie fans I have spoken to think Elko is going to get it done in the next couple of years.

Reed is a redshirt freshman who came in and threw for over 1500 yds with 12 Touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.
He also ran for another 500 yards.
To say he “sucked even more” is ridiculous.

I like Weigman and am excited to have him at UH.
He is healthy and motivated and I can’t wait to see him perform at UH.

Yes, those passing yards and other impressive stats are eye popping. The 1-3 record as a starter isn’t. So was it the QB that was the problem or not?

I’m just glad you aren’t a head coach

I hope you aren’t one either.

“Everyone in this football team except for our QB sucks!!”

“Let’s bench our QB and keep everyone around him. That’ll do it.”

“Yes, that will get us 3 losses out of 4 games! Brilliant!”

Consider this.

  • A&M has a generous NIL.
  • A&M has the fan support. No team had a better atmosphere than when A&M hosted Notre Dame and Texas.
  • A&M plays in the SEC.
  • As a QB at A&M, you have upper tier talent all around you.

All that and Weigman still chose to leave A&M for UH. Weigman is showing that you don’t need all the pomp and circumstance to pursue your goal of getting to the NFL.

Those specific factors mostly matter to younger players though.

Once you start hitting your junior/senior/grad years, those things matter less and less (except for NIL perhaps)
