WOW, those are 4 heavy hitter schools…NICE
He’s a guy with little experience but a lot of potential upside. Could be really good a year or so down the road. We now have him, Patrick Paul, Ruben Unije, Jaylen Garth, Shamar Hobdy-Lee, and Tevin Shaw at OT; Tyler Johnson, Tank Jenkins, Peyton Dunn, Max Banes, and Karson Jones at guard; and Jack Freeman and Pancake Hunter at OC. That should be a pretty solid offensive line.
As for what other positions we’ll pursue, I would guess safety, OL, and maybe DL—possibly a RB with McCaskill leaving.
I think we’ve added 4, right?
Hobdy Lee
Ndukwe
Dunn
Banes
And then we have the 1 Juco DL.
Oh, and Smith. LB from CU.
That’s how I am getting to 5. But I have no clue if I counted a guy as scholarship that is a walkon.
With you here. Need more OL. And really want 1 more safety.
I think he just moved to OL last year. His upside is through the roof. But definitely a project. But the perfect guy to potentially take over for Paul at LT after next season.
So this guy just slots in for one of the 10 other third string guys that were too buried on our depth chart, right?
There is a such thing as quality depth. Only 5 can start.
So the 10 linemen on our depth chart that left are different from the guy that played in one game for west Kentucky?
Project but nothing indicates this guy is depth or fits into the equation at all.
Hopefully we strike lightning with this guy but learning a new position.
Noice!!!
Does UH have any interest in Cullen Montgomery, OL, originally from Episcopal? He hit the TP last week from OU.
O lineman are hit or miss, I assume they see something in him that will be an upgrade to the unit vs the guys that left.
I’m sure the new OL coach also has some specific things he’s looking for, even if the guys coming in aren’t ready to dominate today.
I must have got the timing mixed up then of when Dana said we have 11 spots. I thought it was after Lee and Max but I think you are right. But we did lose Alton and a kicker so that opened 2 more spots. So I think we agree we are in the 5-8 range haha
He’ll probably be depth this year, but he has the potential to develop into a very good tackle given his offers from UNC, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Mississippi State. The guard from Louisiana-Monroe was a two-year starter and named the team’s best offensive lineman. Hobdy-Lee from FIU started as a sophomore, and Banes was probably Akron’s best guard before he was injured. None of these players will be finalists for the Outland Trophy, but they’re all solid offensive linemen. We have a guy who will be drafted in Paul, and Tyler Johnson has a chance in a couple of years. We won’t have Alabama’s offensive line, but we will have a competent Big 12 group.
Woohoo. Keep that G5 pipeline coming.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I just don’t understand why the starting left tackles at Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio St aren’t transferring here?
Kicker was on Tier One Scholarship, not football scholarship
