Boom! David Ndukwe 6’6 OL from WKU commits

I imagine this is part of the formula for UH recruiting. No way UH can compete with the amounts of NILs P5s are throwing around, so UH stretches its NIL dollars by investing in projects, P5 or G5, or G5 starters that are underrecruited by P5s. This is similar to investing in a start-up company with growth potential. As with investing, spread your investment among different companies, in this case athletes, hoping one or more are successful. If UH scouts these players successfully, the rewards should outweigh the risks.

What will always be a concern is UH being used as a training ground for players who then move in to bigger programs, when UH has done all the work.

The starting left tackles at Bama, GA. or Oh St. aren’t transferring anywhere! I’d be curious to which schools the P5 starters (and back-ups) in the portal are going.

Yeah, thats a G5 player who turned down offers From North Carolina, South Carolina , Kentucky and Miss State to come here…sorry if a boy who 3 SEC state schools wanted doesnt meet your standards.

Thank you for adding context to the title instead of just “BOOM”

Who said he didn’t?

I’m excited about the offensive linemen we’ve gotten from the Portal. The kid from Louisiana-Monroe was a two-year starter and named the best offensive lineman on the team. I think he may step in and start. I’m guessing he and Tank Jenkins will contend for starting right guard. The guy from FIU started at LT last year as a sophomore, so he’s got room to develop and get better. Max Banes was a starter at guard for Akron. The guy from Western Kentucky is very raw but has a lot of potential. He just moved to tackle from defensive line last year. I think he has a chance to be really good. We’ll see. Bottom line is we now have a competent two-deep offensive line.

Agreed. I believe once UH becomes an “established” P5 program we won’t have to worry too much about losing key players. Of course, there will always be exceptions, as there are for most any school.

Boom!

Montgomery from Episcopal would be interesting but I can’t remember every getting a student from Episcopal or St. Johns let alone an athlete

UH occasionally gets SJS students in the Honors College, and on other occasions, SJS students will start out at one school and finish at UH.

The latter situation is more common.

Of course, UH Law Center gets A LOT of SJS grads, including four from my graduating class alone.

uhlaw97 is one of those four.

Besides being uhlaw97……I’m also SJS ‘90.

Not sure about Episcopal though.

The Alabama backup left tackle did transfer to UCF. UH did get their backup kicker.

Georgia lost a 3 star backup OT to Nebraska.

Ohio St didn’t lose any OT, however they gained one from ULM. They lost a couple of IOL and gained one from San Diego St.

So, all in all, we appear to be doing well for a 1st year P5 program that most don’t expect to win more than 4 or 5 games.

We love big lineman

Maybe if this guy can stay healthy, we’ll be set at RT.
