Bracketology 2025

15 years ago to suggest that the Houston Cougars could win the national championship would have been laughable.

I still can’t believe where this program has gotten to.

Lunardi has us up to a #2 Seed. Just have to keep taking care of business.

Looking more and more like the game against ISU is going to be for the final #1 seed. Although, they have a road test coming up in Lawrence next week.

I will take that 2 seed and bracket all day long.

Agree, preferably not in the South Region where we’d have to potentially face Auburn in Atlanta.

UCF should make the tournament. They have put up a fight for us and Kansas. CINCI is running the table and making it in at 7%.

I like that bracket except for being in Auburn’s section. But the road to the elite 8 would be about as good as one could hope for. On the flip side of preferring not to play Auburn to go to Final Four, NO 1 seed wants us as their two. Can you imagine working to get a one seed then have as your 2 seed the team that is #1 in ever single metric poll? That would suck.
Having said that… that’s why I don’t see us not getting a #1 seed if we don’t have some weird collapse or injuries. All the metrics say that there are three teams better than everyone else. Auburn, Duke, and Houston.

Would rather play Auburn vs Alabama again they have our number

I don’t see a difference between a number 1 or number 2 seed. There is no home court advantage.

Atlanta would be a huge Auburn home court.

Auburn, Alabama, SDSU, Duke, etc. (and anyone else that deserves to feel our revenge)…bring them ALL ON!

Then…

Mow 'em all down, and raise the trophy!

How is Cincy not in the top left. The NKU and Dayton wins. High win quality there.

Must have been some kind of data entry error.

If we are a 2 seed, I want to be the same 1 seed’s region as Alabama. We’re beating them if we play again.

Last night I needed to stay up late so I rewatched our November game with them. In spite of many issues with foul trouble and TA unable to play late with a minutes restriction we should have won that game in regulation. Never seem to get a fair whistle vs bama.

I mean this team is usually pretty good, historically, so that’s a good win on the road

They beat the Packers by 18. That’s worth something.

I’d prefer not to be in Auburn’s bracket. I would think the top #2 seed would go to the #4 1 seed’s bracket. Maybe not.

They try to but there’s other considerations (geographic preference, conference affiliations etc) that have to be accounted for.

They try to keep it balanced and there’s other factors like @olutrain said. Overall #1 vs. overall #8 is what they would like, but it’s not an exact science. They try to keep seeds as close to home as possible. They try to avoid conference matchups the first weekend Elite 8 is the preferable first conference matchup.

If you look at Lunardi’s bracket, that means Wichita for us. That could send us through the South region, probably against Auburn if we’re on the #2 line. If we make the #1 line, for us to get out of having to go to San Francisco, we’re going to have to pass Auburn or Alabama in seeding. I figure we’re not in competition with Duke for the Eastern region.
