Nice thing with football is a player can RS and still play 4 games. If Weigman comes back for one more then you can have KH redshirt and still get real reps. Not much downside either way tbh.

Itā€™s pretty much guaranteed that heā€™s the starter just by sheer optics or else someone else will take him.

Keep in mind, he isnā€™t coming to Houston for NIL. Houston cannot match what other programs (SEC/B1G) would offer.

As someone else here put it, athletes ranked that high do not redshirt, and Weigman isnā€™t going to risk his final year of eligibility to be a backup QB

Carlisle will have to change his outlook on playing QB for that to happen, though. He chose to come here because it was a QB opportunity.

Itā€™s not uncommon at all for 5 star QBs to sit their freshman year. Especially when theyā€™re coming into a locker room with a Senior QB, that also happens to be a former 5 star himself.

Who was the A&M WR/QB recently that played QB for years in the NFLā€¦?

Thereā€™s value to a QB in running routes for a couple years if someone is starting over youā€¦ but I also understand why heā€™d transfer out if all 3 are in the QB room next seasonā€¦

Just using the 2025 Class Rankings there were 4 5 star QBs. They went to Michigan, Ohio St, Bama, and USC respectively. Only the Michigan kid is playing and thatā€™s not a surprise because their starter and back up both graduated.

Perhaps you redshirt at a blue blood school, but at UH? I donā€™t see the highest rated recruit coming to redshirt.

I mean it happens at blue bloods because they usually already have a more experienced 5 star ahead of them which is exactly what our situation would be if CW comes back. Weā€™re looking at an embarrassment of riches. Learn to embrace it.

Its in his best interest to redshirt especially if the oline isnt solidified. Give HCWF another year to recruit and build the bad boys up front. It helps having an experienced QB when that is the case
