Bruce Pearl Retires - Steven Pearl is taking over Auburn

Nah he is running for Senate. The current Senator is running for governor so he will run to take his place. Literally two former Auburn HCs; I imagine Tide fans are not happy.

Come now… I’m sure BP actually knows the 3 branches of the federal government. Unlike Tubby…

Tubby is dumb as a sack of hammers. It isn’t possible for BP to be as dumb

I wonder if anyone on the team will transfer out this late into the pre-season.

…interesting

No that was post of the move it’s too late for the kids to portal out really. So he set it up for his kid to take over while handcuffing the roster.

Again total ho bag move, but he’s going to into politics so might as well get your ho bag muscles stretched out.

It will be interesting if the former football coach is elected Alabama Governor.

iirc, there’s a loophole to be able to transfer if the coach leaves or gets fired, but im not sure if it would apply this close to the start of the season.

Hadn’t thought of it that way, but you do make a good point.

If so, that is a pretty sh!tty thing to do, but good for his son, inheriting a loaded roster lol

So I think they all could, technically. But in reality deadlines for getting into schools has passed, rosters are set, transcript evals, etc

Anyone who entered the portal now outside of Pettiford is probably burning a season. It’s why it’s a BS move to pull this, but also speaks to the faith he has in little Pearl keeping things together.

If he’s trying to take TT’s spot, then I wouldn’t characterize it as a ho move.

You gotta strike quickly in these situations and the spot just opened up. If anything, he should have taken the CKS route and setup this transition in advance. I’m too lazy to look up his last extension but surely it was after CKS put Kellen’s transition in place.

I think the 30-day window opens tomorrow for the current auburn roster.

I’d take Pettiford

Who wouldn’t?

Never forget what we did to Tuberville at Cincinnati.

This is the only place I have seen this news?

About Pearl retiring? It was on the front page of ESPN earlier.

And B. Pearl claims he is not running for TT’s senate seat in 2026 [as TT seeks the governor chair in AL in 2026].

However the timing certainly lines up for a ā€˜change of heart’ later for B. Pearl - and B. Pearl has been increasingly politically vocal lately so I’d say the run for senate is still an open door for him and he is testing waters… just my opinion though. Time will tell.

For UH - it is slightly interesting to see how the son of the long-time and very successful coach does taking over the program…

Just listen to his thoughts - he’s also taking flack from his primary recruiting base so he steps down when everyone is backed into a corner to help his son

There might be a mutiny on his own team with all the bs posts lately.

Yes I agree that Pearl is smarter than Bubbaville.

It’s definitely where the real money is at

As a program with the best coach in the business, I’m glad the successor was named immediately. I wanted to beat Auburn at full Auburn this season but oh well.
