Just saw this on CNN:
I’ve never had a good non-alcholic beer; even non-alcoholic Lowenbrau tasted like doo-doo.
Might give this a try just to see if it’s any good.

Athletic Brewing Company has been gaining steam lately. Never tried it, but seems like they are doing craft brewing without the alcohol. Most non-alcoholic beer is just cheap stuff with no alcohol so of course it wont be good.
The key to me is not whether it has alcohol in it or not, its whether it taste good or not.
Do you know of any non alcoholic ones which taste good? Would be good to throw in my rotation.
Snow,
As I said above, I’ve yet to find a good tasting non-alcoholic beer.
I said that because I am not much of an alcohol drinker. I am sure I am in the bottom 5% on that front with this board. I do love a good Bloody Mary and when I drink beer its going to be a Shiner.
So, if I drink it, it would be the taste and not the alcohol. Maybe they’ll finally make one that taste decent. We’ll see.
I’m intrigued with this also. Since I’ve been in my 40s, I don’t drink much at all but still enjoy a beer from time to time. Had a session ipa last night while grilling some steaks. One is usually fine but two or more, I just feel like crap. So I typically buy really great beer, since it’s occasional and I only have one, I want the best one possible. So for me this would fit in a social environment or like floating the river or a tailgate. But I’ll have to try the Athletic one too.
This never made sense to me. If I don’t want to drink alcohol, I don’t drink beer.
To each his own I guess.
Go Coogs!!
When I was young I had a primary care doctor that warned me about the adverse health effects of drinking too much beer. He suggested two non-alcoholic beers: Warsteiner and St. Pauli’s. They were “ok” and I drank them for a while. Have not had one in some time…not sure if they are still made.
Haven’t tried those two, but I tried non-alcoholic Lowenbrau in Afghanistan.
It was DISGUSTING.
Maybe this will be better.
Never understood the point
Well, I can see how a NA beer might be appealing to someone who either a) has a religious prohibition against alcohol, but likes the taste of beer, or b) liked to drink beer, but develops diabetes and can’t have alcohol any longer.
The only problem is, I’ve yet to taste a NA beer that’s any good. None of them taste like real beer, or at least, none that I’ve tried have.
There are two NA beers I really enjoy their taste. Original Michelob Amber Lager and Yuengling Lager. Can’t buy Yuengling in Texas as there are some distribution regulations. To me Yuengling is very close to a European Lager.
The point is, some people love beer. And, some people don’t like getting drunk or buzzed. So, you have the best of both worlds.
