I can’t think of anything sillier for a university based community than to ban posting the name of the US President. It solves absolutely nothing since abbreviations are used and URLs get shortened but it’s a pain and an awfully bad look for this university in general.
Spare me the but but personal attacks since no topic is more viscous than game day threads (particularly football which has the most traffic by far). Plus, we all know the posters who take discussions down the toilet are less than 5 or so. Not only game threads but they can’t help derailing obituaries
We let people discuss issues until it gets overtly political. There is always gray area.
We could kill it all but not sure anyone really wants that, especially given that many people that complain about it participate in it frequently. If y’all don’t like it, just don’t participate.
As for the OP, not my call and don’t see it as a big deal.
I learned a long time ago that I can’t please everyone though.
Because too many of you would be posting threads with his name in the title. And then too many people would be complaining to Ryan. Lets try to work in the rules and not get it completely shut down.
Or get rid of The Satellite. Would love to see a poll of all members, politics or no politics?
If we all came here, as stated earlier, because of our ties to UH, then let’s revel in our fandom and eliminate the political pettiness. There are plenty of other websites where one could go to bash presidents x, y, and z. I hear anything goes on twitter, if that’s your cup of tea.
The satellite board has had a lot of positive threads about UH and other non-political topics that really don’t fit anywhere else. They get lost. I am guessing a lot of people don’t even visit the satellite board anymore just because of all the weeding they have to do to avoid the so-called non-political postings.
Would hate to lose topics like movies, television, random pictures, etc.
I’m good with getting rid of the satellite. No one and I mean no one is ever swayed beyond their conviction, or what their media feeds them. Very evident. Basically just about above a bot chat.
