Case Keenum Thread

They made a concussion protocol rule because of what happened to Case.

Are you writing that Kevin deserved to get concussions and be in horrible pain for the rest of his life?

Thank you! I do and did!

Nope- I’m saying somewhere along the line, MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS told Kolb of the consequences of his choices and he made those choices ANYWAY. Btw, if I had a chance to play in the NFL I would have made the exact same choices. Also, I have had 4 concussions, 5 knee operations and 5 shoulder operations as a result of choices I made, so I know what I’m talking about.

Thanks for providing clarification. I hope you understand that without that context, your post could be interpreted as vindictive.

No. It was never meant to be like that. I have extensive experience in sports medicine and outpatient orthopedics as well as having been an athlete. I have worked with athletes at every level of sports and I have had the very unpleasant experience of trying to have the ā€œHave you considered retiring?ā€ conversation with professionals and all the way down to Jr. high kids. The conversation always gets to ā€œmaybe you shouldn’t be doing this…?ā€ Usually the pros either busted out laughing or looked at me like I was from another planet. The younger athletes usually looked at me like I had just crushed their long held childhood dream. At least 70% of them looked me straight in the face and said; ā€œI am doing this no matter whatā€.
Then I would say ā€œok, but when you are 60, YOU WILL PAY.ā€

Here is a name about nfl doctors and how they treat their players.
The nfl is going to say chao was cleared, sure, sure tell that to the players that suffered the consequences.
The is notorious by how bad their medical staffs are. Everybody knows it.
Case is a great example on how bad these doctors are. Seeing him trying to get back to its feet, stumbling and he is kept in the game. The nfl could care less for a few players. Every mid nfl player is considered ā€œground meatā€
Former San Diego Chargers team doctor David Chao, who left the team in 2013, faced years of scrutiny, including malpractice lawsuits, over 20 cases of alleged negligence, and investigations into questionable prescribing habits, leading to a 2017 settlement for probation by the California medical board.

Key Details Regarding Dr. David Chao:

  • Malpractice and Negligence: Dr. Chao was found liable for medical malpractice in multiple instances, including a $5.6 million award in 2013 for a patient’s frostbite injury.
  • Junior Seau Case: The California Medical Board accused him of negligence in 2016 regarding the treatment of former Charger Junior Seau, specifically citing the over-prescription of Ambien.
  • Drug Investigations: He was investigated by the DEA in 2010 for allegedly writing over 100 prescriptions for controlled substances to himself, which he denied misusing.
  • NFLPA Concern: Due to his history of lawsuits and medical license issues, the NFLPA urged the Chargers to remove him, leading to his departure in 2013.
  • Post-Chargers: He did not face a felony indictment based on these specific, widely reported issues, but settled with the state medical board for probation.

Other Potential Incidents:

  • Tyrod Taylor Case: A different doctor, not Dr. Chao, was sued by former Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor for puncturing his lung in 2020 during a painkilling injection.
Kevin could probably write an encyclopedia on how bad his body was managed by nfl doctors.
Your concussions and personal experience is one thing but an entire legion of old nfl players will tell you the exact opposite to what you are writing.

The lawyers are just ding their jobs as best they can which are their legal duties. The culprits are the ones who hire the lawyers and bring the lawsuits.

Seems a simple fix. We just need to convince the NFF to expand the list of recognized All-America teams to include College Football News

Does CFN even have All-America teams anymore? All I see are preseason teams.

Awesome video. When we were at the stadium it always felt like he would get that needed completion, he’d somehow get that critical first down, they’d somehow score that touchdown to extend or get the lead. ALWAYS felt like we were in the game with him behind the center.

You felt that way because it was true.

Something that holds on to me from that era is how well receivers caught the ball and ran routes that Case could pinpoint. We have IMO never seen receiver classes that were nearly that good, Tards after the catch also were great if I recall correctly.

Keenum always hit the crossing patterns in stride so they could turn it up the field for big yards. Couldn’t agree more, the receivers were money!!
