I don’t think it is a direct quote but there were plenty of analysts who have said he wouldn’t make it or didn’t have what was needed. Case has talked about being told that as well.

The entire Houston sports radio clan. matt thomas was very vocal about it. I called his show and he said/thought there was no way he would make it or even make an nfl roster.

Here are interesting, and forgetable, factoids. Case graduated from Abilene Wylie HS. Colt McCoy, who in college played for the People’s Republic of Austin, played at Jim Ned HS, in Tuscola, TX. Jim Ned is about 15 miles from Abilene Wylie. Colt is one year older than Case. They never played each other in HS but were teammates with the Washington Redskins.
You get bonus points if you have ever heard of Tuscola or Jim Ned HS.

Watching Case now for the Bears preseason game against the Titans.
Couple decent passes to start the second half; slow scramble and caught from behind.
So happy he’s on the roster again for my Bears.

No, he’s the 3. A coach on the sideline.
Interestingly, JT Barrett (QB coach) is sending in the plays to Case.
Case is still playing while younger college QBs are now coaches.

Bears D just made a great stop deep in TN’s side of the field and returned the punt deep into Titans territory.
Case is back in for some snaps.
TD Bears. Case made some nice passes that series, then the Bears RB Johnson ran in it from the 4 yard line.

Too bad the Texans didn’t recognize Keenum’s impact on C.J. Stroud. When Keenum left the Texans, Stroud took a very noticeable decline.
